I honestly think when someone is injured by a deliberate foul as opposed to a mistimed tackle the perpetrator should be banned until the victim has returned to fitness and played for the first team again.

Goodness, I must say when I saw it on tv it looked like the lad had survived it relatively unscathed. If he's suffered a broken leg that is sad. It was a horrible tackle, truely horrible. Seems to happen quite often with Newcastle players.

When most leg breaks happen the offending player has usually sounded out and it's all over the news. I've not heard one iota of Guthrie being sorry for his shithouse style tackle.

That was a tackle? Outright assault more like!

Thing is you cant punish the player for the outcome of a foul, only for a foul itself.

Guthrie gets a 3 match ban for serious foul play and thats it.
