Enjoyed reading your thoughts... you mention there are still loads of younger ones around today who share the same footballing feelings as us older fellers... if that’s the case why do they dismiss the greatest cup competition in the world.. the F.A.Cup ? back in the day they wouldn’t do that in a million years and would go as far as to say if you offered them an F.A.Cup win or a top four place they would say the latter.. this proves it’s all about money..
What did you think about DPs run in the FA Cup this season?

Aye - It was a 9 year old lad who first came up with the idea of fielding reserves in cup ties. And if I remember correctly it was a 12 year old from Salford who decided that Man Utd should withdraw from the FA Cup to play in the World Club Cup instead back in 99/00.

Or were those decisions made by people quite a bit older? Maybe even around the same age as us older fellers....There might even be an older feller or two who'd rather go and earn a few quid at Dalian Pro than take a job in England and have another crack at the "greatest cup competition in the world".

Of course money is important in the game but lets not pretend it was never the case back in the day or that it has eroded the competitive will to win for the sake of winning. The game has always had controversy and conflict over money. There's a lot more zeros on the end these days but you can go back to the 19th Century and see controversy around the subject and accusations of it ruining the game or being contrary to the spirit.

I'm starting to wonder if Benitez only went to China for "birds with big boobs" and the closest he got was when Rondon grew his hair out and took a few fashion tips of Dom.
Thats why he was sacked. He didn't buy into the history and traditions of Chinese super league football. It was suggested by some he only went there for the money.. Hard to believe

Who did you support before? We're always interested in this fahct.
Wouldn’t say support so much more of an interest but did take one in the Indian Super League due to the number of ex players managing there.. The likes of Steve Coppell.. David James.. Peter Reid.. David Platt and the old Hull City manager Phil Browne is over there now.. can remember Marco Matterazzi managing too...

So prior to Dalian, you had an interest in the ISL. Yet, you are on here having a go at 'sky sports brigade' (fans around 30 and under) despite the fact you never held an interest in the English league until benitez has come to Everton?

Correct?

What English team is it that got you an interest in football? As you have stated you went to a match at goodison in the 80s but that it was not your first match.

Always has more of a general liking to football more than just one club.. 1970s enjoyed watching the West Brom’s under Big Ron from the Swan.. Liverpool under Paisley.. Forest under Cloughie.. have to throw in Bobby Robson’s Ipswich team with Arnold Muhren and he late Paul Mariner, remember there UEFA Cup win so well . then there was Villa under RonnSaunders and Tony Barton.. after that Howard Kendall’s Everton team he put together on a shoestring budget and in the 90s my interest moved on to the titanic United v Arsenal battles.. now we have the two biggest Clubs in the League Manchester City and Chelsea who will be the future going forward..

Like I say I would say I am more of a general footballing person rather than one single team but do like to follow one or two more than others each season.. last season Leeds United I took an interest in. Do like watching City tho I don’t mind admitting.

It's almost like you're picking a league depending on what take away you're fancying. Who was your team in India?

Can't wait until you fancy a full English and we find out what English team you followed.

Always took an interest in Mumbai especialy when ex League players Reid and Anelka were in charge...

The Premier League team I enjoy the most is City if am honest.. just the whole package.. the way they play.. the set up of the Club and I think the owners have tried to intergrate themselves into the local community too, it just seems more than the usual owners trying to make a fast buck type of thing..
I thought Leeds United were a great watch last season never in a dull or boring game.. Brentford at home are a must watch this season not so much away tho..

So you don't like the way sky have taken over football and ruined it with money.
But you admire man city and their owners.
This is a head shaking logic.

Dalian, Mumbai and City.

Nice mixture of old school traditionalists there.

I don’t claim to be involved in any club.. I have passing interest in nowadays football.. I still watch it but have no real love for the game anymore... like I say I have a bit more interest in certain Clubs but would’nt pass myself as a proper engaged fan of any.. do like to debate and throw my pennies worth in on forums tho...

That’s ok isn’t it...

Guess what.. if another interesting team develops I will follow those two... is there some sort of rule you have to have only one club.. I am just a football supporter in general... like all sorts of clubs and players.. fav players recently are players like Silva.. Fodden.. Raphinha..DeBruyne.. Mount and Pulisic at Chelsea..Gordon...Bowen.. Tossard so you can see I like watching quite a few...
