Cyrille Regis RIP

I don't remember many players who didn't play for us with great affection but I count Cyrille Regis amongst the very few I do. Such a sad loss. I am sure we will do him and his great club proud come Saturday in the form of an appropriate tribute.

I hope so. Some players transcend the clubs they played for. He was certainly one of them.

Been out of the loop news wise all day so have just heard this news.
What a player he was. Him and Cunningham roasting United in that 5-3 game amongst others.
Always played with a smile on his face.
Shame so young. RIP

A quality centre forward with a great scoring record, was bit before my time but always remember him banging in some cracking finishes watching videos of years past.

You'd often see him be interviewed and he always came across as such a likeable bloke, was saddened to hear of his passing.

RIP Cyril.

You forget about the family, John Regis the sprinter was his cousin and Jason Roberts and Dave Regis were related to him as well and they both made good careers in football. Probably more that I have forgotten about too.

I loved watching Cyrille playing when I was growing up, like others say above he was one of the few EFC players I enjoyed seeing. Early in the 87-88 season Coventry beat us 2-1 at Goodison and Regis scored a piledriver at the Park End from about 18 yards, nearly ripped open the net like Hotshot Hamish.
So sad to hear of his death, he did seem like a good man as well as a fine footballer.

So sad to hear about his death. He was a cracking player. Came out of the non-league which was pretty rare too. Some of the clips on the news show him being hugged by Andy King when he played for WBA after he left us first time around. WBA had a really good side in the late 70s and he was the focal point of it.
BTW the "Nice one Cyril" song was about Cyril Knowles of Spurs in 1973.

Is there a minutes applause at every game this weekend? I ask as Sky Sports News announced that Coventry would be commemorating Regis before their game which indicates it's only the club's he played for...which would be a disgrace.
