What a missed opportunity. Alaphalippe was hanging on for grim death there and literally no one pushed the pace. Poor from Movistar, Lotto and FDJ who were all so so passive (but of course incredibly gutsy from Alaphalippe). The stage was saved by Bernal at least having a go, and a super ride by Quintana.
 
Not quite up to Bruce's experience, but have VIP access tomorrow at the start (mate works for a sponsor), then should be able to whizz round to catch the bottom of the final climb. Aiming to be close to the finish line for Val Thorens on Saturday too.

Background is I promised my son when he was 5 that I would take him to the Tour when he's 10, which he held me to this year.

PS: 15 degrees and torrential rain at top of Alps now. Due to clear up tomorrow but interesting if it doesn't.
 
Having watched a video clip of Froome sitting on a bike pedalling with one leg I wonder what’s the odds are on him winnng 2020 TdeF?
Still everything to play for, incredible the way Alaphilippe keeps hanging in there , could all come down to the last climb on Saturday.
 
Really hope Alaphilippe can hold on tomorrow but it's looking like it might be the end of the road for him I reckon. Was on by his fingernails there over the Galibier with the GC guys nursing the legs in the main.

Rowe and Martin ejected was harsh but I'm more on the directeur's side than their's tbh - no problem with a zero tolerance policy for bullshittery in the peloton, it's a dangerous sport and there needs to be implicit trust that the five guys from other teams who are 5 cm from your wheel aren't about to cut you up or get on the brakes. Of course there are problems with consistency with other guys getting away with far worse, and it's not like you can give these two a time penalty as some sort of yellow card. Perhaps handing out a time penalty to G and Kruijswijk might have focussed some minds and gotten the message across.

You'll see the day the Tour could well be decided, so super exciting. Have a great time, and I hope your lad enjoys himself. Getting the access he'll get, I'm sure he will. You usually get various ex-pros in the VIP area, whether Tommy Voeckler or Contador, and who can refuse a photo with a young lad, right? :-)
