Not normally a betting man, but just stuck a tenner on Froome @ 11-4 as I was past the bookies.

He was definitely tired yesterday, despite saying he was riding within himself, but fancy him to lay it all out there today. Should be a great stage!

This is actually pretty good to follow on BBC Text! They reckon Froome is going to be ok. 30 secs behind the lad in second, 5KM to go.

Why dont they race on the final stage? I mean, I know they race for the stage win, but not for the Yellow Jersey. Seems weird. Like if two riders were only 1 second apart, would they race then, or is it just convention?

Tough to tell as there's never been a case of there being seconds between riders on the last stage.

But it's just convention, a signal of respect as to who has performed the best over the dividing stages. The GC racing has been done and it is accepted that they will all roll in together on the last stage as it is flat and slow.

Really? Thats amazing after 100 years or so!

Closest was 1989 when Greg Lemond won by 8 seconds- however the final stage was a time trial for some reason that year so I guess we wait to find out what would happen.........

Great stage.

I think if it was a matter of a few seconds they would race. Obviously a different scenario, but they have had gc decided on the last day through a tt before.

Convention and history which comes about through commensense . These guys have had a hard 3 weeks nobody wants to push it anymore except the sprinters and their lead out teams at the end. It's so flat that nobody could break away from Yellow jersey team they'd just keep bringing it back. And now it's regarded as the "unofficial World Championsip for sprinters" , the sprinters don't want anybody getting in their way , it's their day. The rest can just enjoy the champagne.
