Closest was 1989 when Greg Lemond won by 8 seconds- however the final stage was a time trial for some reason that year so I guess we wait to find out what would happen.........

Convention and history which comes about through commensense . These guys have had a hard 3 weeks nobody wants to push it anymore except the sprinters and their lead out teams at the end. It's so flat that nobody could break away from Yellow jersey team they'd just keep bringing it back. And now it's regarded as the "unofficial World Championsip for sprinters" , the sprinters don't want anybody getting in their way , it's their day. The rest can just enjoy the champagne.
No one should have to live with being spat on. What exactly do they, or indeed any other team, need to do to prove they're playing straight?
Not release blatantly made up power data when pushed too?

Oh, and seeing you as you love these arbitrary power debates, Quintana climbed the Alpe today in 39m22s, or some 3 minutes slower than Pantani's record, despite the stage being some 100km shorter than most rides to the Alpe. So Froome wouldn't even be in the top 50 times up the climb. Must be on the juice though.
They are all juiced. Only difference is other teams don't insult our intelligence by claiming 'marginal gains' or not eating Nutella or fluffy pillows are responsible for climbing times superior to known dopers

Don't watch the sport then. Simple answer.
How much of the abuse Froome is getting is because they think he is on drugs and how much is because he is a Brit riding for a British team and winning their event?
