Wait, so you think Quintana has been the stronger of the two?

No, he was today though - seeing as Froome had scant support later on. I honestly think Quintana should've stolen a march on Froome a lot earlier than he did today; which might end up being costly for Quintana tomorrow as I can't see him clawing back much if the race pans out similar to like it did today.

I'd have thought Quintana should've been a lot closer to Froome than he has been considering it's been a hilly tour.

Only if he has a domestic or two with him.

Showed what he was about when he was on his own today, and Quintana went away from him.
Quintana was the stronger man today, but Froome's put him to bed before, several times. That's why he's wearing the yellow jersey.

I think he'll want to show who's the boss tomorrow, just on general principle. That goes double given that he's been ridiculed, pished and spat at by his hosts during the race - there'll be a reckoning on the Alpe.

As much as he would love to win on Alpe I agree with Dixie in Quintana was stronger today and should be tomorrow too, but that shouldn't be enough to take MJ.

It was suggested that Thomas and Porte might have been sacrificing and saving themselves to help Froome on
the last hard stage, and he might need them at the end. Quintana never looks in trouble, to me, and I think it could get really tight.
Froome hasn't put foot wrong, so far, but he could crack and that would make it an exciting finish.

.....Froome complaining of being spat at after being drenched with urine a few days ago. I'm not a massive cycling fan but really enjoy watching the Tour. I expect it's part of the tradition and charm of the event that supporters are so close to competitors but it has to be a problem if this type of thing is happening. It could be a matter of time before something more serious happens. Sad really.

It was caught on camera mate. Check a few posts up, I posted the picture. There's a gif doing the rounds as well if you search on Twitter. Sadly, I expect it to be even worse on d'Huez as the crowds there are traditionally quite bad. Why you'd go out there, stand around on a mountain to then go and do that is beyond me. Some sad folks out there.

....thanks, Bruce, I wondered with so many TV and phone cameras about if it would be captured. Good news. As you indicate, some sad folk out there doing dreadful things in such wonderful surroundings.

I'd say Sky should protest and pull out, but it will be better to win and show them they aren't cheats!!

Since the stat there have been suggestions that they wouldn't have the Col du Galibier ready because of landslide damage to the road surface and they have indeed changed today's route in the middle to avoid it. They're now going up the Col de la Croix de Fer the HC mountain they tackled just after halfway yesterday. It's not quite as high , which may help Froome, but the profile is very much the same ...... and the Alpe is waiting at the end.

I think this will be Quintana's day, he's been slightly disappointing so far but no doubt he's a superb climber and should be better than Froome on this course. Mentally Frrome is magnificent , he'll hold it and hold it for as long as he can and not let him get to a winning position. Quintana by 60 secs from Froome for me.
Apparently they've had the road closed for 7 days with lots if partying going on on the Alpe recently, let's hope they keep the idiots at bay.

How they gonna do that? Release some more bollocks data?

While sky have a highly suspicious team leader and hire doctors with a doping past they will have to live with it I'm afraid

No one should have to live with being spat on. What exactly do they, or indeed any other team, need to do to prove they're playing straight?
