Excited for today, interesting little stage that will probably see the GC contenders going into the final climb alone

Apart from himself or a bad crash is anybody going to beat Froome??

He needs Thomas and Porte to not get dropped early on, Poels as well, otherwise he will be isolated really early and could be in a world of trouble.

Today's descent is very dangerous and it's going to be wet so if I was Froome I would take it easy on the descent with the buffer he has got.

TJ out with sickness. Not the most exciting of riders but a shame when anyone has to depart like that.

seems like there's been a lot of chest/breathing problems this year - is that because of the very wet start and then super high temperatures on the flat stages?

Not sure. One of those common legends around the tour is around bronchitis and the importance of stuffing a newspaper down your jersey for mountain descents. I suspect given the incredibly low body fat of the cyclists + the duress the body is put under that they are incredibly susceptible to illness.

perhaps lacking bottle would be the wrong term, in fact it certainly would, but is Froome known for being a bit jittery with wet decents

He's got a bit of an unfair reputation for his bike handling imo. Probably stems from his first foray into pro racing when he crashed coming down the start ramp in the world time trial

Sure he'll be fine though.

Riders all over the road here. Astana giving it some on the front and Froome doesn't seem to have many domestiques with him, although he has Roche up the road.

Beautiful scenery btw. Looks lovely.

Naughty wee slip form Pinot on the descent.......didn't lose too much by the looks.

Valverde & Quintana seem content enough at the moment.............
