after today he about 6th overall!

5th. A word of caution, in the 2013 Tour Sky had a similar result, with Porte and Froome seeming to destroy their rivals, but then the next day a couple of teams went hammer and tongs at them, forcing Kiryenka to miss the time cut, Porte to lose ten minutes and Froome to hang on for dear life with no team around him for most of the stage.

Of course, it's a huge ask to expect anyone to claw back the kind of time gaps Sky opened up today, but the other teams will surely give it a go tomorrow.

i remeber them blowing up. porte really suffered. he's about 2 stone lighter now tho and alot more experienced. i wouldnt have thought they would misjudge it again,, not after that particular incident.

6.09 w/kg from Froome: amazing performance but not even remotely mutant as the haters will have you believe, especially bearing in mind it is the very first mountain of the Tour so he is at his freshest, as well as the fact his team didn't have to work until last 15km. Nibali and Contador are out of it, it's only Quintana who can stop him, but he is up against it. In fact 6.09 w/kg is exactly what Nibali done at Hautacam last year, deeper into the Tour.

Every comment you'll see on media posts is about the doping...to see 3 sky riders (1 of which isn't exactly a renound climber) leave the best climbers in the world for dead is a bit......whiffy...................

i can understand one great climber getting dropped. but they ALL seemed to go. thats what makes it whiffy for me too.

i hope im wrong. but i just cant see an individual being THAT dominant over the rest these days. lets see how tomorow pans out. he might struggle (or make it look that way) !!

Contador and Nibali aren't in anything approaching top form, they are a mess quite frankly. Porte has saved himself all week, and Thomas had a great ride, but is everyone going to be asking the same questions of Gallopin who Thomas finished with?

im only really interested in the performance of a team that have declared they are completly drug free yet put superhuman rides in.

Apparently Gesink was 6.01 w/kg, a great ride from him.

I am sure the pseudo scientists on twitter won't say a peep about that though
