Some mad racing going on on this climb.......Very cat & mouse.....I won't even get me money back from Quintana.....Bag o' shyte.
Was a bit flat in the end. Well done to Purito for getting the win though. It's hard not to respect Valverde for the way he challenges in all kinds of races all year round, but he sure is annoying the way he zips off for pointless seconds near the top of a climb.

I like that....race to the end. No reason why he can't catch Van Garderen if he keeps chipping off 10 seconds here and there
He's undoubtedly the best at what he does. Any kind of hilly classic and he's odds on to win, but I'd like to see him go on a Purito style break for minutes and the stage win. He's not going to win the race after all, but he's chipping away to try and get 4th spot or something, which might earn him UCI points and a bit of cash but it's not really what you get into racing for.
Remarkably consistent though, as shown by his 5 podiums in GTs (with 1 win) and whopping 18 podiums in classics, with an extra 8 victories.
