Just been reading "Things of Gashness" and one thing that does my head in, is the other half tellin me not to let her cuppa brew!!

So what is the perfect brew?

Mine, tea bag in the cup, then the hot water, let it "brew" for a good few minutes, then splash of milk.

not really one for tea or coffee here, infact i dont think i ever will be.

Taste's like crap:@

I shall let you into a little secret that will change your life.

When I make myself a brew I make 2 or 3 at once.

Only put the milk in one. Drink it like.

Then 20 minutes later, when still gasping for a cuppa, simply walk over to the 2nd brew, bang it in the microwave for 60 seconds, add water.

Job done.

You will all do this. It is written.

Darjeeling is particularly good.

some individuals just make a 'pot' of 'tea', hence 'tea pot'.

and no one has yet mentioned the one true method, when the kettle is boiled, pour a little very hot water into the cup FIRST, so as to heat the ceramic, then empty and brew ones tea bag.

it is the temperature that realises the authentic tea.

once upon a time, milk was put in thee cup first, this was due to a temperature problem, in victorian times the ceramics of the day were not as hardy and consistent as the ceramics of the modern day, adding milk first back then was an insurance measure so as not to crack the cups.

also, i know someone that 'likes' weak tea, i just dont see the point.

who has sugars in tea/coffee? and how many?

that is bang on siuts.

always pour boiling water into the cup first, swill around and empty. it will always improve your lot.

i don't microwave tea as it never tastes the same.

a pot of darjeeling or earl grey is my preferred choice.

1) warm pot with boiling water- then empty

2)place loose tea in a strainer provided in pot (or loose in the pot itself) and add water... ensuring the temperature is just off boiling.

3) turn pot half turn to the right and quarter turn to the left

4) leave for 3-4 minutes to brew. (ensure pot is above a 'tea light' candle to keep temperature optimum).

5) pour tea and if with guests always offer the guest the second cup poured from the pot- it should be the best cup in the pot.

6) enjoy with radio 2 or 4 with short bread and a scan over G.O.T forums.

Did you forget to light the candles and run a rose water bath teppic??

It sounds like you take your tea seriously!

The whole of the British Empire was built on cups of tea.

I can't function without at least two nice cups of tea in the morning.

PG Tips, 1 sugar, milk in last, nice n strong, sorts me out for the day.

I rarely warm cups with a swill of hot water. Only if I have a visitor I'm making a brew for.
