As I say, they both trade off being divisive characters. You can try and spin off another narrative if that makes you feel better but it doesn't alter their MO.

Lots of people are divisive characters. Doesn't make them two sides of the same coin.

Jones doesn't set out to offend. Causing offence and hurt is Hopkins raison d'etre.

One is a reasonably respected political commentator and author. The other is a washed-up reality TV contestant and professional troll. They are not the same. Your comparison is tenuous at best.

Wouldn't want to be stuck in a lift with either of them, but Jones is the far less objectionable character. He might grate, but I think he's genuine and means well. Hopkins either believes her invective or, worse, says awful hateful things for cash.

For what its worth I quite like owen Jones, but I think he is a bit too absolutist and almost puritanical in some of his stuff
