If you compare the situation to, say, Mehmet Oz profiting from snake oil for decades without professional repercussion (at Columbia University or to his New York medical license), Peterson is correct to assert that this is a tempest in a teapot.

This doesn't change anything with respect to his whining, and part of the problem here is how much of it he does. If he whines about everything, he can't expect whining when he does have a point for once to do him much good. "Re-education camp" is a more than a little strong for wasting a few hours of his time. Practitioners in clinical disciplines do this every two or three years. So they added some mandatory continuing education to his plate. It's not much of a sanction.

He does, however, have a point that traditionally weak regulators shouldn't be taking political stances. They have much bigger fish they elect not to fry, year after year. It's concerning that they would take enforcement actions in this direction, and leaves the (probably correct) impression of targeting him to generate the appearance of doing something.
