I hate him so much, my god. It’s a cost of living crisis directly caused by conservative politics and corporate profiteering, a capitalism crisis, if you would.

Fair response mate. I always took it as people meaning they were reasonable enough to consider advantages from both right/left but you are right that years of propaganda on television have made right wing something people feel uncomfortable to discuss which is probably not healthy for society and may be a plea from people to say "I'm not completely on the left of things but I'm not unreasonable" or something? I don't know I'm just going off what I suspect rather than anything concrete or studied on this that I'm aware of.

If someone takes the position of a neo-liberal and argues for small government etc, then, whilst I massively disagree, I can accept and respect it as a valid position. However, what has happened is that it has been conflated and mixed in with all this mad ‘woke’ nonsense (which affects absolutely nobody) so people don’t even know what is meant by left and right wing anymore. All ‘centrists’ I have seen and spoken to, have no idea what they’re on about.

In one corner, there is someone who has sacrificed an incredible amount of time, money and their personal life to get a PHD, study an incredibly complex subject for 8 years, submit a peer reviewed thesis and be a recognised expert in their field.

In the other corner we have a drunken cat-murderer who has admitted to being arrested numerous times and forcing his child to do PCP with him. He gets all his information from Youtube.

Yeah I think about this a lot. Centrism is an extremely subjective term. I would say anyone describing themselves as ‘centrist’ at the minute, adhere to a fairly right wing ideology in the grand scheme of things, usually because they know that identifying as ‘right wing’ is generally frowned upon.
I’d probably say i’m more of a social democrat, who believes in the merits of the free market operating alongside state ownership. Some people might regard or have regarded that as centrism depending on the context.

I thought centrist thought that they were the centre of the universe and everything should be for their benefit

The maddest thing I think is when people like this try arguing with experts in their field like he has done on climate change.
There are often people who post on these pages that I kinda disagree with but are clearly well read and experienced in the subject matter so unless I wanted to do a tonne of my own research (like read academic research and primary sources) then I just leave them to it as I’m out my depth.
We live in an age where people can pick up their phone and watch some videos and think they have an understanding of extremely complex subject matter.
Takes years of hard work to be able to critically analyse published research yet millions of dolts think they can sit on their arse and watch a few YouTube videos catered for what they want to believe, and they think they are a knowledge source in this field.

The only expertise that i`ve seen is how to swerve the issue. No one has answered anything i`ve posted..........urban heat islands for instance, you all herd together like a constabulary of hyenas cackling maniacally as if that`s enough of an answer. ?
You`re all sooooooo concerned yet whenever i ask what are you are personally doing about the problem you believe in, all i get is "i re-cycled my plastic" - laughable the lot of you, no wonder you get called clowns living in a clown-world. ?
The biggest mis-apprehension you suffer from is believing i`ve "watched a few youtube videos" to inform myself- you assume something and then keep believing it yourselves ?
