*Calvary arrives on the scene

1) If anyone wants to even attempt to tell me that the medical system (trained doctors, facilities, equipment, etc...) is even close to what you can get in the USA, you'd get laughed at all the way to Havana. Believe me, you get cancer, you come to Houston, not Havana. Not. Even. Close. Oh hey, don't forget our that many of our Canadian brethern up north, those of the socialized healthcare, come down here for treatment. They probably aren't lining up to take flights to Cuba.

2) The UN is the most incomptent, corrupt organization on this planet. But hey, let's make sure we abide by their resolutions. I'll chose my words carefully here.

%&$* the UN. Next to North Korea and Iran, probably the most anti-American organization on this planet. It's past it's usefulness, not that it ever was, and needs to be dismantled.

3) Castro, yeah, there's a real hero to the people of Cuba. Just sad to see that a country like that. What could have been had they had free elections? Someone wanna enlighten me? Or is someone going to say "Yeah, but they had free elections in Iraq."

No disputing that whatsoever but it's all relative, you need to compare Cuba with it's neighbours to gain a barrometer of the success of its healthcare, not you big bad dirty capitalist pigdogs to their North.

Why do you say that?

Maybe like Haiti with a pretty useless government, or Mexico where the cartels are running rife?

Ha...you actually responded very well. I thought I might get a rise out of you but you didn't fall for the bait like I would have.

Good man.

I can't claim to know much about Cuba to be honest and I'm sure that from everything you've said about the place, it's a very nice country. The people sound nice. I guess when one guy's been running roost for as long as Castro has, things can get a bit stale.

My country isn't perfect but one good thing is that our presidents can't serve for more than eight years thanks to term limits.

Now if only we could get term limits in the House and Senate.

Laughing here.

It will all sort itself out, and hopefully soon.

Two really sound sets of people and two great countries to visit, for so many reasons Havana and New York are probably my two favourites cities I've visited.

Tex you forgettting Tricky Dick and what about our MPs and their expenses, then you have the Euro MPs whose snouts are stuck in the trough, I can think of more but that will do.

I'll agree with Bill about the UN, it died in 1990, and it's only usefulness as mediator so that we wouldn't chuck the holy hand-grenades (the ones that aren't just for killing killer rabbits, but everything instead) over the Berlin wall at each other, is mostly gone. Now it tries to serve as acting world police in a world that has thousands of different morales and ideologies about what is right or wrong.

Disclaimer: Yes, the U.S. has tried, and failed, to play that role too, but the UN is easily the worst, both because of apathy and their agenda to **** over their own members.

As for Cuba, never been there, don't know a lot about it. But something has got to be messed up there, politically, when thousands get in rowboats every year and head north, and many die trying. Something that strikes more close to home that happens here in Seattle a lot is non-Han Chinese are cramped like sardines in TEUs, laying in their own feces and piss, dehydrated and starving, and they are smiling when the authorities take them into processing. ******* smiling, because they know they won't get sent back, due to the complex relationship between the two gov'ts. China puts on a great face for the rest of the world, I've been there on two extended occasions, I know, and they keep you in the dark about many places while you're there so you wont see the bad stuff. But when you see what they'll do to get away on a regular basis here at home, it reminds me of how easy we have it in the west, it's really not even remotely fair.

So if Cubans are willing to risk it all like that in the same manner, then they are escaping something bad, that's for sure.
