How good are our youngsters?

The Schlupp thing is a complete non-issue. Between him going down and us scoring the ball went out for a throw in. The ref had a chance then, and rightly didn't stop play.

Only 4 CMs... rest id sell now. .

yes mate, but you have two quality centre mids there in Sneiderlin and Gueye who miss very few games throughout there careers, IF you bring in a third 'star' one, then Davies will hardly see the pitch, right now the centre mid is the perfect size/quality we need and will allow davies to get the minutes he need to develop to his maximum, you bring someone in ahead of him then your going completely against your stated position of giving the kids games etc

In short don't get fooled into thinking we need another cm, as soon as Gueye comes back we are gonna have a headache fitting them all on the pitch as it is

Oh yeah, and our most promising under 23 atm who hasn't been given a chance as of yet is Walsh - another centre mid mate, ONLY way we should even think about adding another one - is if they are a very versatile player who can play there but are equally effective out wide/up front supporting rom etc

Does anyone else slightly arch their back inwards, bend their knees slightly when they go to sing the big Everton punchline of the song - e-ton, e-ton, e-ton?

I did it yesterday as if it were going to make the last "Everton" that I sang louder. The next time we sang it, I decided not to go for it in the same style and think I was just as loud.

Absolutelly agree, Gana is great, but for me Davies is revelation, clever on the ball, fast, full of energy, inspirational, Barkley shine next to him, and after Gana returnes , I think Barry is in danger .

@Alan Whittle what's your view on Big Sam now? When you first hired him I instantly though he would in the short-term be a great appointment.

Yes you'd sacrifice some of the more expansive, attacking football that you were playing at times, but I thought he'd grind you towards survival.

However, he's still win less and since coming in and I doubt your board will afford him the privilege of having decent transfer funds like Sunderland.

We play very differently under BFS. We are more organised and compete better. We are less expansive. Pardew tried to move away from the historic dour and steady
Palace way of playing ( at least in the top flight). His view was you couldn't keep doing it forever. Presumably he doesn't watch Stoke or WBA. So he made 5 big summer purchases; Benteke (ok but not really a member of the group, holds himself aloof), Tomkins (mostly injured and average when he plays), Mandanda, ok but injured for ages, Townsend, who has been utter gash and Remy, who hasn't played a full game yet due to injury and subsequent fitness levels. He then promptly went about changing whole aspects of our play without the players to do it (having sold Bolasie) except the ever improving Zaha ( now at Afcon).
Most of our squad didn't adapt well. BFS is going back to basics but I don't think he trusts the players he has. We desperately need; A no nonsense ball winning DM. and a left back. I'm not convinced the defence has any confidence in Hennessy. Pardews injured players are now slowly returning at a time when BFS doesn't need the qualities that they were bought for.
Injuries and fitness have already improved. The back room staff has been considerably strengthened. The additions I mentioned above with the squad we have means we should be alright. We have most of the bottom half at home and ( as it's still January) I'm not too despondent. Next two league games ; Bournemouth(a) Sunderland (H).

BTW; The Schlupp thing is as called. He was on, then off, then on again. Ref called it right within the laws of the game. When you're struggling you never seem to get a break. Yesterday, if Sclupp didn't have cramp, he would have been on Seamus. This is the stuff that happens when you're down there, but it happens to all of us. (Except the RS and United of course). I think BFS was trying to take pressure off the players and use it to develop a siege mentality. I think Koeman might have done the same.
