As a favour to a mate I attended a seminar on cryptocurrency yesterday. In a word - dodgy. The whole sell seems to be:

1. "Look at the way in which the value of Bitcoin has gone through the roof. Tell me where else in the world you can see that sort of price appreciation? Do you want to be a mug and miss out?*"

*past performance is not an indication of future performance

2. "don't worry about whether the coin has any value as there's always some other mug on the internet who will want it from you at a higher price*"

*but that can't be guarenteed

3. "look this is all some pretty high-tech stuff. Don't worry if you don't understand it right now. It's complicated. I've got an MBA* and it's taken me a long time to work this out"

Some fairly weak whale action today. If this is the extent of the fall then it’s another example of higher lows. Would be good to see most of the dodgy alts crumble to nothing but I would expect back up to closer to 10% off peak within 7/10 days.

It's basically a glorified ponzi scheme though isn't it? It has no inherent value yet its price is appreciating on the back of pumped up demand from new market entrants. If you've made money then great but it's an absolute con job for the masses.
