Lot of ways to read that. Parents could be exploiting a colleague's conflict of interest for their own purposes. Alternately, their colleague could be putting a custom team together according the the specifications he thinks are necessary for the case.
The firm SBF split from is one of the biggies, but if this goes criminal it isn't really in the firm's wheelhouse. I'm not in a position to evaluate how strong their people are with respect to the issues at hand. The biggest problem at the moment, though, is the client's big mouth.
