CROWD CONGESTION

I was right in the bottom of the corner where everyone was crowding to get in. Think I might be behind the fella with the blue hat on and to the right. At once stage I got pretty worried but I just kind of stared at everyone whilst munching my burger. Not much I could do really. Saw a couple of birds have to step over the boards on to the pitch looking quite distressed with a very angry looking bloke with them telling the policeman if he wanted them off they'd have to come and get them. Thought it was all gonna kick off.

so that little square full of fans next to the stand is the terracing ??? or is that just like a way in ???

That was the entrance mate to the stand behind the goal. The area to the right with the yellow gates was where I walked in to get to where i took the photo. I was on the back row.

Luckily I was safely on the terraces by this point. It was well tasty as well.

Joking aside it could have been dangerous. That stadium just wasn't built to hold a full away crowd.

Seen quite a few times how other teams just don't seem to be able to handle our following, even when no-one is pushing and shoving the police seem to struggle.

Arl' man had to get off at half time do to the squashing etc. Felt a bit gutted for him.

did he leave out of concern mate? That's not good man.

Yeah I agree, the police had no control over that at all.

The was a couple of scouse stewards and police at the gate to the ground, but they seemed unsure whether everyone was supposed to be going in both gates or just one. They seemed like they were doing their best in all fairness, sounds like the communication between the different forces wasn't great...

I have been in touch with Stevenage today wishing to speak with their safety officer. I want an explanation. For double the price of their normal match day admission, it wasn't good enough

Big fuss over nothing. A bit of squashing for a few minutes, a result of nothing more than a few hundred not going to find their seats until after the teams had come out. There was only one way in, so if your seats were towards the far end of the stand it took a while to get there and a backlog built up of people trying to find where their seat was. Maybe a bit uncomfortable for a few, but hardly dangerous. [Poor language removed] me, travelling on Northern Rail in peak hour is a damn sight more dangerous and uncomfortable!

Yeah he got a little worried and was getting pushed around a fair bit. Not good for a 73 year old fella! said it was dead cramped and like sardines. All the younger lads loved it but he couldn't really get into it because a lot of our lads we're rotten and didn't care about knocking people about and stuff, so he went to a pub with his mate and watched second half from there.

I think it depends in your mobility. I didn't have any issues at all, and the stand itself didn't look squashed, just the entrance. For some fans it was a different experience, so fair play if they are not happy.

I do agree though, our fans always seem to arrive a minute before kick off. It could be transport reasons or just being in the Ale House, but for a small stadium they could have organised it better maybe.
