I think May could rustle up a decent sponge cake. And Jezza has most takeaways on speed dial. With lentils as a side dish.

Its not a great choice is it?

No-one should pretend that Corbyn is the reborn first Duke of Wellington, but I'd trust him - in fact, I'd trust almost anyone - before someone with May's history.

Lest we forget, this is someone who has reacted to a spate of terror attacks in London last year by making sure the Met loses 3,000 cops.

Pete - can you please list for us the measures she has actually taken as the result of a nerve agent being used to maim two people and seriously injure a cop on our streets.

She has engaged with the U.N. and the body responsible for controlling chemical weapons. She has engaged with the USA, France and Germany to gain their support, She has raised this with NATO and the EU. She has put in place a removal programme of Russian personnel from the U.K. She has put a programme in place to beef up arrivals and financial checks on Russian individuals. She has made plain to Russia that the U.K. will not stand for this, she has the full support of Parliament with the exception of Jeremy Corbyn. Jeremy Corbyn has repeated the words of Russia and has done nothing to denounce them, not a single word.......

Why would you trust him, he has reneged on his election promises, he has always supported anyone against the U.K., he always voted against his own party, he always wanted to leave the EU but directed his party to remain. He told the world he would not use trident to defend the U.K., and you would trust this man to defend your family......why, what has he ever done to give you this confidence.......

Wow. Purge folk in your party who dont agree with you? Life is a minestrone mate. And coming from one who, correctly, railed against GOT ever becoming an echo chamber, I find that a strange sea change.

They're not part of Labour's tradition. They are free market liberals who used entryism in the late 80s and 90's to colonise the only mass based socialist party in the country. Expelling them would be a completely justified historic task of righting a wrong. Neo-liberals have other parties that share their views and they should be encouraged to take up membership of them.

To have a greater chance of winning the next election, Corbyn will be forced to take on those that want to split the Labour party. This Russian thing is small beer compared to Angela's window.

The Tories and the anti Corbyn brigade will play this for all they are worth. But it will generally fall on deaf ears as austerity is the major issue facing people. As well as the 1 million sanctions against disabled people by the DWP. Russian money will still be accepted into the City and the British Virgin Islands. BP will still trade and invest in Russian state owned companies and the UK will still accept Russian liquid gas.

The centre-right free-marketeers in the parliamentary LP will never STFU and keep discipline. Maybe the best policy is to pacify them and get in power first. But the showdown with the LP right wing wont be put off forever. The grassroots of the party are implacably against them and Corbyn and his successors will only remain as leaders if they continue to take party policy leftward toward collectivism and uses the market in everyday provision of utilities as sparingly as possible. The party WILL be transformed.

Well, engaging with the UN is more for show because the Russians have a veto on the Security Council. Engaging with the OPCW is more important, but of course that is what Corbyn said we should do in his speech.

She has engaged with the USA, France and Germany to gain their support, She has raised this with NATO and the EU.

Corbyn said we should look to build a consensus with our allies, so its good that May is doing this.

She has put in place a removal programme of Russian personnel from the U.K.

Corbyn has said he supports this.

She has put a programme in place to beef up arrivals and financial checks on Russian individuals.

This is where you start to get into difficulties. For a start, she has announced no such programme - she said:

Mr Speaker, we will also make full use of existing powers to enhance our efforts to monitor and track the intentions of those travelling to the UK who could be engaged in activity that threatens the security of the UK and of our allies.

So we will increase checks on private flights, customs and freight.

We will freeze Russian State assets wherever we have the evidence that they may be used to threaten the life or property of UK nationals or residents.

Now on the surface of things this is similar to what you said, but the point is that this attack followed on from the shootdown of MH-17, from the murder of Litvinenko and against a backdrop of Putin's behaviour in Syria, Crimea, the Ukraine itself, all the hacking thats been going on and with so many of his enemies having accidents. Why on earth wasn't this being done already? (edit) How can we verify that the Government is actually doing this? Are they hiring more border agents and search teams?

She has made plain to Russia that the U.K. will not stand for this, she has the full support of Parliament with the exception of Jeremy Corbyn. Jeremy Corbyn has repeated the words of Russia and has done nothing to denounce them, not a single word.......

None of this sentence is true. She has told the Russians that we will not do anything meaningful as the result of this; no targetted sanctions, no asset confiscations from oligarchs, no money laundering crackdown, nothing that would materially affect things for them in this country.

Like the Neoconservatives in America, will play both parties and say what the public want. They played the religious south to the tune they wanted to hear.

First time in years we almost have a choice...I actually remember when the word actually meant something in political terms.

Getting shut of the enemy within Labour's own ranks is the prelude to delivering the British people that choice.

Purge away I say.
