...Hameed has gone from England’s next great opener to struggling for a game at Lancashire. Amazing fall in fortunes. Jennings might well be back unless he gets a decent knock for England today.
Should have been dropped further down the order in an attempt to get some confidence back.As you say a fairlt dramatic fall.

Combine India's top order with England's middle and lower order and you'd get a good batting line up.

We can always blow away their tail not sadly pujara was there. Proper test innings, England need that today and the game will be over. Just play time, even that pant who is supposed to just whack it, had a 29 ball duck. But at least he was trying to play an innings properly. Bat a day and a half and the runs will take care of themselves.

Shouldn't be going out and playing shots today, that's what a coach should be telling them.

Oh dear, I only nipped to the shop for ten mins, I had a feeling we were finally going to see a good opening partnership today.

We lose so many wickets to balls not hitting the stumps and then I think we think the opposition batsmen are just as stupid because that's where we bowl then.

Ah ffs, what an absolute killer last ball. So even this match though, nobody is favourite, we always seem to lose a very late wicket at the end of a day, but a very good batting performance grinding in and batting the whole day for what seems like the first time in about ten years.

Just hope Curran can get a few more tomorrow morning and push the lead to 270/280, that'd be a tough chase.

Keaton Jennings, Root, Stokes, Buttler and Curran have put England in a very reasonable position here on a pitch doing plenty. Shami caused all the batsmen real problems but the real surprise for me was the really lacklustre showing of Ashwin, who I thought the main threat, he really must have been carrying an injury.

The wicket played like a day 4 rather than a day 3 one and some are now starting to keep low, there is rough to exploit for the spinners and it's turning off the wicket. Anything over 200 always looked a tall order batting last to me. So while 233, with the possibility of stretching it to over 250, is not unsurmountable its probably quite stiff on this wicket.
