Pakistan look very good. Did what England players in early summer should have done: bowl a full length with swing and seam ; play yourself in, and then expand against tiring bowlers. It should be second nature to them, it's hardly rocket science.
Bayliss and Root have a lot of questions to answer. Thirteen winless matches away from home, and the likelihood of losing the first Test played in May since 2013.

Lancashire's latest one day match at Blackpool was abandoned after half an hour. In that time Keaton Jennings, continuing his recent good form, made an unbeaten 23 off 28 balls. Perhaps the England selectors might get rid of the useless Stoneman - top score this season of 29.

No way out for England in this Test imo. The batters have yet again let us down.

The catching wasn't that great today either.

One thing that really gets on my nerves, and I've said it on here before and other sites, is the continued employment of Mark Ramprakash as our batting coach. As a player he was a total failure at this level yet he's now attempting coach our best batsmen.

No wonder our batting is getting worse and worse. Ramprakash should have been jettisoned after the debacle we had in the winter yet somehow he's still got the gig.

This has been as bad a performance as I can remember in a long time at home.

Abject batting. Technically appalling and no patience whatsoever.

Complete lack of discipline with the ball.

Dreadful captaincy by Root.

Woeful fielding.

i liked him, but he was always out of his depth internationally. How long has this been going on now? It's been a good 3 or 4 years, all the batsmen are getting out to shots that aren't even on the stumps, wafting their bats at anything. And then the bowlers on the other hand continue the same plan, bowling short and short and short. Every match they show a graphic with something like "only 2 balls would have hit the stump in two hours" etc. They try and bore opposition batsmen out. They're not a crap team, it's a great team on paper, but they're getting utterly battered here by a pakistan team which isn't really fancied. They struggled more against ireland i think.

Root on 60 whilst the other 3 haven't even got to double figures ha, 40th half century which at his age is sublime, only a few off lara, gavaskar and inzamam - the massive issue of course being his conversion rate.

Picked the wrong team. Can't bat. Can't bowl. Can't field.

Trevor Bayliss is a huge fraud. Flower should be reinstated immediately.
Flower had reached his shelf life, this is still his leadership group failing now, minus swann, should have got Gillespie in when they had the chance, but at least Strauss can give his school chums cushy scouting jobs
