Cricket

Nobody on this forum gives credit to good bowling, its painful to post in here sometimes.

Brother every single English wicket to fall is a woft or hes using a celery stick or lord knows what else. Maybe I'm biased having been a bowler but it's frustrating.
3 wickets in the over. reviewed.

R5SX - radio comms are rolling around on the floor here... "that 140 for England is looking pretty good..."

missing off, missing leg, taking middle, all day long.

11-4

robinson crunches a wicket. bam. gone!

Tongue, straight through, that stumps done more flips than Nadia Comăneci.

29-6

As an opening batter all rounder I like to think I'd acknowledge his bowling, but also England's batting is woeful at times.

It's the club Duckett was ejected from... (not enough celery in his bloody mary)
I just dont think anyone comes out of today looking good because of a terrible pitch. Can't really form an opinion on anyone other than at least all the bowlers understood the assignment of where to put it. Also watching Gay in his warm up videos he's going to stick off a lot through gully or wide slips. Another player who scores big in county cricket without footwork.

Ramprakash set all sorts of scoring records at county, something mentally stopped him for international, he had the moves and tons of experience, he'd play on pitches he'd scored centuries on and froze.

One on comms today said a par score should have been 220-230.

Credit to the pitch preparers, if they can cook pitches this way 5 times for an ashes the aussies will forfeit.

What aggravates me greatly is the 'filet-o-fish flap', no confidence going for the ball and offering the bat and get an edge. Some better footwork might help, but it's a matter of getting your head over the ball and tucking up tight and defending your wicket. When he was still allowed to be heard boycott would rage on the radio about discipline and defence. Shane Warne isn't around anymore sadly, so the ball of the century isn't getting served up. Tuck up, tight, get your bat square and play the defensive downward compress shot. Anything wide, hammer, anything on pad put it away, short leave alone until you're in and have 20 on the tally, when it comes full compress it. No chances taken, no catches offered, concentrate. Dig in, make them work to get you out, punish what you can, spoil the rest. This lot are the playstation and smartphone generation. All bustle and no brain.

This is why I think Kane Williamson is the best of the generation by the way. If he got to play as many tests as England he'd be threatening Tendulkar.

Seems the wigs at england hq are sorting the opportunities for that record to fall on Root. (more cricket needs pushing in primary schools, but they've all sold their fields to house building firms - and kids lucky enough to get a bit of summer holidays sports experience can't fall in love with the game in 4 to 6 weeks of pratting about, again, discipline).
