Cricket

Ructions and dissension at Lancashire.

Yes two special general meetings, one by the board to make it very hard for members to propose change at all, then one to suggest up to 4 ex-employees can be on the board.

There is a singular lack of cricket representation on the board, currently only John Abrahams. When Clive Lloyd becomes president, that would be two - the current limit.

It is a mess, but two or three times now Gidney has had a strong third of the membership vote against him, yet he ploughs on regardless. Lancashire structure and management is a mess.

Thought Bumble had some brilliant innovative ideas on the cricket overlap for county cricket

Farbrace leaving Sussex at the end of the season.

I'd personally be finding a roll for him in the England set up.

Him and Stewart would be a partnership that would interest me.

As it stands we're going to have to persist with the statue quo.

The Hundred is really chav cricket. Attendees don’t know how to behave and it is a drunken mess.

Test matches are raucous, but largely well behaved in terms of understanding when to stand, when to keep still and when to humorously barrack the opposition.

County matches are a bit desolate, although quite good at”out” grounds.

I still love cricket, but avoid The Hundred.

Membership just 6,000 - surprised it's that high actually but I remember when they had the largest membership in the country, 13,500 which was the maximum they allowed.

The complaint that cricket is far from being the priority of the committee has been around since the Cedric Rhodes days, but I back Bumble and Walter!

Problem is that hardly any of them bother to vote, only circa 450 at last agm.

Cricket is an annoyance to the management, a massive cost for little return. Hence, they don’t want cricket focussed people in positions of power. It’s far from just Bumble and Walter, although it is good to have such strong figureheads to focus the opinions of many.
