Decent analysis of Crawley as England opener.

'when England lose the toss away from home and are asked to bat first, Crawley averages 11.5. When England wins the toss at home and chooses to bowl first, Crawley averages 44.4'
This could be true of many openers although perhaps not to this extreme. Getting put in to bat in foreign conditions is challenging, especially as it will favour the bowlers first up. Still dont rate Crawley mind.

There will always be a good ball that an opener gets that you can't really do much about. The frustration with Crawley is that he routinely scores single digits and only in the most favourable conditions does he average 40+

The comparison with Carse was interesting. Essentially, he occupies a top position while keeping an average of a wicket keeper or all rounder.

If he could wicket keep, he'd be useful.

His career average is 31.18, home 37.26, away a terrible 26.56. At the age of 28 next month he's not going to improve, time to try somebody new.

Agree with you both. His trigger movement and robotic planting of his feet whilst trying to play the ball off the deck with his eyes is just so poor. He just doesnt have the hand eye coordination to bat like that, you can see how he feels for the ball to come to the bat so often. Matthew Hayden was rigid in his stance and planted the front foot but did it with authority.

Why would they alienate so much of their potential fan base in Merseyside and Lancashire with this narrow minded approach. Personally have little or no interest in "The Hundred" cricket, but this is not going to encourage me to change that opinion.
Just makes me dislike it even more, and I didn't ever think that would be possible ! Manufactured trash, coupled with the most ridiculous mascot possible.
