This.

Howard is not a bad keeper. He's just average. Really average. Capable of the odd worldly but equally as capable of a massive howler.

He has not been helped by the fact he's had no competition for beards.

No mate, I'm dead serious. I don't see Howard getting any better than he is now. Mucha could turn out to be better with a run of games and the confidence boost of being first choice.

Howard will not learn to do the basics at his age mate.
 
People are harsh on Mucha. Playing one sporadic game every six months isn't really a fair basis for judgement. He's a keeper. They need time to know their defence and consistent runs -- Howard's played every PL game in the last four or five or six billion years.

I watched Mucha for Slovakia in the world cup and he looked a good keeper then. Since then he's not had regular football -- nothing even close to that -- so I'm really not going to judge him on his combined 2 hours of Everton performances.

Exactly. It could be that he's gash, but until he's played 5-10 games for the first team nobody can really say with any certainty.

One thing you can be sure of is Howards form has been poor for a long time and he weren't great to start with.

I dunno, 1 or two mistakes a game for a goalie equals a totally bad keeper to me! Agreed though they are costing us big time. Our goals to shots conceded ratio must be awful.

He never used to be this bad at all, maybe its a mental thing, but he has been pish for 2 seasons now in my mind.

Whoever said they would prefer Mucha in goal for us right now...I have to agree with them. Maybe not long term or anything but on current form Mucha deserves a go.

Mucha might well be utter gash, and I'm not even saying he should replace Howard.

I'm just saying there's not really a substantial enough amount of evidence for the stick Jan gets.
