Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
If you remember the original of a song, is a cover version ever as good as the original in your eyes ?

As much as I like the Paloma Faith cover of Never Tear Us Apart, it just made me listen to the Original.

Chaka Demus and Pliers did an amazing job on Twist and Shout*

*And I'm being totally serious

That aside, there's not too many I can think of that have been better, off the top of my head.

Hounds of Love by The Futureheads was a belter, but how you can top Kate Bush...really

Cover for the day:

The Replacements - Black Diamond (originally KISS, the bad weirdos)

Nirvana's covers on their MTV unplugged are amazing. Where Did You Sleep Last Night, so raw, and Man Who Sold The World is technically very good and has a lot of feeling in it.

Too many examples to name, but...

Under My Thumb - Stones
Knocking on Heaven's Door - GNR
Police and Thieves - The Clash

....to name but 3.

This, even though the original was good. He made this a classic

Dear Prudence by Siouxsie and the Banshees, and I think The Cures version of "love will tear us apart" was better than the original, not a strictly unbiased opinion.
