Couch to 5K

Oh @mods please merge with the existing running thread ffs.

Hmmm, no sure about that Homer clip, as my avatar shows Homer is a running machine šŸ™‚

As you’re now a runner , join us in the Running thread ! https://www.grandoldteam.com/forum/threads/running.117522/page-55#post-11954600

Not associating with you nerds.

I'm sticking with run a bit to fend off heart attack.

Not "oooh look at me, a PB, I've ran this squiggly line in under 4 hours".

Heartily concur on running as well as other exercise, as a stress reliever and way of switching off. Big fan of swimming for it too, but for sheer ease and accessibility, running is a go to. 3 times a week between 4-6 miles is a winner for me.

Yep...agree with all of what you said. I also used to do 4 miles 3x a week. Recently, I ran into some tendon issues and had to take a break, and at my age, that means I need to ease back into it. I can't just start back at 4 miles. But it is mostly for the head-clearing/stress relief. I've also found that if I have some thorny work-issue or research question, going for a run helps me gain perspective on that issue/question.

I've always wanted to get more into swimming but it takes up too much time to get to the pool, change, swim, shower, etc...about 2 hours total or more. If I win lotto, I'd install one of those constant-current lap pools in my yard.

Got myself a fair bit out of shape the last few years.

Had to unexpectedly run a few months back and resembled Homer here;

.... so figured better get a grip of my cardio.

Would recommend the NHS's couch to 5k app. It's a structured way to ease back into running;

I can now run for ages.

Well, good few minutes.

We don't believe you.

I've had 4 attempts at this and failed every time. I think I need to change the audio of Jo Wileys voice being just too god damn calm after I've pulled another muscle

Achieved the purpose of this app/ran 30 minutes without stopping the other day. When I started it I struggled with 1 minute.

Give it a whirl, if you can be arsed.
That’s fantastic, well done boss!.

I’m a helper at our local C25K meetup. Always great to see people go from Week 1 all the way to a non stop 5k.

Now you’re a fully qualified runner will you merge the running thread with this one?
