Bad analogy there, JJ... If you are in a restaurant, you should expect to to be served warm and fresh meals. You are paying for that, and for personal service.

Takeaways and home-deliveries are a different matter, and indeed, a race to the bottom!!!

If I was to order a pizza, burger, kebab etc... from from a local takeaway, I'd realistically expect to have to warm it up in my microwave as soon as it arrives. If I were to collect same said junk food, I'd expect to have to heat it up as soon as I get it home.
Either:

A) all your local takeaways think you are a bad Tory and sebs you cold food.
B) You've never ordered a takeaway in your life
C) You're a bad wum saying mad 'ting for effect

I know a fairly successful local chef (regularly been on national TV and whatnot), and he recently said that the model is edging towards being unsustainable.

In one of his places, they were famed for their breakfast that used and promoted local produce. For him to make even the slightest profit, he'd now have to...

... charge £18.50, from £10-12 a few years ago. He knows that's an unrealistic price, so the decision is either shrink the portion or reduce the quality.

Then with the drinks suppliers throwing around another 5% on costs, and then you have to account how that adds on extra duty too, it's a perfect storm.

I’ve noticed when eating out, that things like the side portions of chips / peas / beans etc has shrunk quite dramatically.

I don't think I've ever had a take away that I have warmed up,
I'm the same, but my Dad does it. It seems there's a bit of an old school "if it doesn't burn your mouth its not good" mentality. I wait for food to cool down a bit before eating it myself anyway so it'd be pointless for me.

I find it ruins it a bit, dries fish and chips out for sure and I've never allowed it to be done to my pizzas.

Honestly, I can't remember the last time I ordered junk food for home delivery. It must be years ago! I do collect sometimes though...

If I do collect food, or eat out, the first thing I check for is their hygiene rating... it's got to be 4 or 5 at least! Anything less is just dirty...

And finally... "mad ting"? Have you been watching Top Boy?

Anyway, back to pizza's...

I would recommend "Artisan Pizza; to make perfectly at home" by Franco Manca.

To make a good pizza, you need a high cooking temperature, which is difficult to achieve at home. But, you can achieve this with a cast iron pan! You just need a simple dough mixture, a simple tomato sauce for the base, and toppings of your choice.

Cast iron pans generate the heat required for a hot and crispy base to your pizza. When the base is bubbling, this is the time to add your tomato sauce, and choice of toppings. Transfer your cast iron pan to be finished under a hot grill to finish off.

Best pizza's I've ever made at home!

Pizza cooked in a pan. Hope there was plenty of pineapple to top off the monstrosity.

I always check the hygiene rating before eating out. Could be in for a nasty surprise otherwise

Sometimes people just want to chill and order some take out.

It’s not a big deal and doesn’t require a culinary lecture.
