Zero hours (and agency work) really need to be got rid of after this - yes, they offered some convienience, especially for employers, but it should be evident to absolutely everyone now that they put people in massively unstable positions.

It would almost be worth looking at ending the minimum wage, which is whats driven the rise of these abuses, in exchange for employees having actual rights and the chance to get financial stability.
No argument from me mate , hopefully this will wake people up a bit towards people who are less fortunate.
We need more security in employment not less as has bee the trend for to long.

Pay and whatnot for the self employed is needlessly complex and puts further stress on the DWP - which is already dealing with so many UC applications.

But, of course, the Tories would rather not roll out a simple UBI program

I havnt a clue, but it deffo feels calmer this last week. Like shops are stocked, we seem to be doing the stuff we have been told to do, and a sense of "a new normal" is what I feel.

Like folk are going to die, which is never good, but a raging epidemic and an overwhelmed NHS seems less likely according to some reports.

Feels a bit daft posing that as good news.

I'm really hoping this guy's modeling turns out to be a closer to reality than many others out there:

At last, somebody addressing the issue of the economic impact of all this and I have to say that I'm just as concerned about the significant negative impact on my childrens' future financial wellbeing and happiness as I am about the current risk of my catching the virus.

You do realise that over 80% of PPE equipment for medical use is made in china
You do know this
Tell me you know this
So nearly every country in the world is importing the virus
You must be well into those 1500 pints at this stage
The reason the UK are not bothered on respority equipment is that genius in Oxford medical research, has come up with a computerised way of inflating lungs in an attack of Corvo 19 virus and cheaper than the standard equipment they are short of now it's on trial this week and looks brilliant.....let's hope its revolutionary against this virus in ITC units all over the UK and beyond .,...

I dont know the total figure for these bail out's but wouldn't it be easier to just give everyone in the country of working age a set wage, in work ,ill , out of work absolutely everyone?
I posted earlier on LBC small businesses are struggling with his last announcement lucky if that comes in in May ........The 80 percent pay deal for PAYE employees......
Its far more complex than his original announcement......

Yeah that’ll be why they’ve just handed an order for 10,000 ventilators to Dyson - in Singapore. Who’ve never made a ventilator.

On top of their wages? Instead of their wages? As a top up to their wages? Not quite as easy as it sounds. Think they have done ok myself. Not brilliant, but ok.

And teach folk to make nourishing and low cost soup instead of the pricey convenience crap I see going through the checkouts.
