ITS NOT ABOUT WEARING A MASK!!!!!

You seem to be completely missing the same point I've said a few times now!

For one final time, if the highest age groups of covid rates don't have to wear masks indoors and continue to spread the virus , or its new variant then wearing one on the bus will do nothing to stop that.

It's not the what, it's the where. If the where is in the wrong place then it will do nothing.
I’m sorry, you can’t just shout at me with full caps to try and make your point. You seem to continually deny the fact that masks make a difference. There are so many studies that show that they do.

What do you even mean by the “highest age groups”?

Please just read some studies on how effective masks are

Absolutely spot on. Some don't seem to understand that though because pubs are optional. It doesn't matter because the virus will spread there, so you aren't stopping the transmission of the variant.

But supermarkets are optional too; or at least they can be. You have online shopping. There's nothing to stop the government having a centrally run online shopping portal with priority for those who don't feel safe going to supermarkets. But they won't, because it's not optically beneficial and would cost time, money and effort.

And that's the thing with the mask mandate - when it doesn't work, which it won't, they can blame the public for not doing it. Which is the entire point of it - deflection. It's a fear of the upcoming inquiry, so they want to point to 'what they learned' as a defence, and claim their gross incompetence when it mattered was because 'the virus was new'.
Not everyone lives in a place where online shopping is an option

Exactly, we need to wait for more info. It’s good that countries have reacted quickly (albeit rubbish for the countries being red listed). If it’s an overreaction then fine. But better to overreact and get that wrong than take no action and deal with the consequences of that
Overreaction is not fine... you'll have governments hiding new future variants for fear of being redlisted.

If they try and do another lockdown then I’d guess that at least half of the country won’t comply this time, firstly due to people more than likely taking the view that they’ve done all they can by getting vaccinated and refusing to accept a life living in and out of lockdowns every few months and secondly, now that people have seen just how corrupt this Government is, there won’t be the will to want to obey them. The police will be so overwhelmed by the number of people out and about, that they’ll be forced to give up even trying to enforce it and there will also be no furlough this time, as the country simply can’t afford it.

You're looking at about five people max in the country who live in the middle of absolute nowhere and are clinically extremely vulnerable.

There's nothing stopping the government doing this, except the realisation it's not needed.

At this point in the pandemic, those at extreme risk should be helped directly by the government. They shouldn't be relying on people wearing masks. Because ultimately those still vulnerable now to COVID to the point they can't be vaccinated and can't go outdoors without fear of someone sneezing will be goosed regardless.

I give up.

I say one thing and you reply to something entirely different.

If you aren't going to read my post then we will just keep going in circles.

How do they know that people have the new variant?

Genuine question, only tests I’ve ever done are LFT & PCR and they don’t tell you anymore than if you have it or not.

There's a specific anomaly in he result that makes it easier to spot, but they won't rely on that - they'll sequence each result in the usual way.

And they don't tell the test recipient the strain of the infection but it's marked internally. It's why we knew when Delta became dominant etc.
