Seven deaths today bringing us to 5, 7, 3, 7 for Monday to Thursday so far this week. One day we will hopefully get a 0 again.
So far the deaths total is 22, this time last week we had 45 deaths. Every day so far this week, we have had single figure deaths, all this despite the “Indian Variant” fright stories. We never had weeks like this up to Thursday when the “Kentish Variant” took off. The figures were either four digits or three nearing four.
There has been an increase in cases today from this time last week, but the main thing is if these change to deaths and/or long hospital stays that overwhelm the health system. 2,874 positives today, up from 28 over the last seven days, but not significant and still at a level that can be considered plateauing. Yesterday there was a decrease with the Gov dashboard showing it in the green. It’s like going up and down rather than increasing and we have the vaccines to thank for that. The 7 day average for deaths is now 7, or 50 over the last seven days (7.14 on average, but rounded down to a non-decimal number).
Finally, talking of vaccines, 174,100 took their first dose yesterday and 324,001 took their second. The overall adult population figures are 37,250,363 for first dosages and 20,870,453 for seconds.
This sees us go over another hurdle of going over 70 percent for the first time in first dosages and 40 percent of second dosages in the adult population (70.7% and 40.3% respectively).
