Interesting perspective from Cowen. Basically while the government are crap, our medical researchers are truly top drawer, and he argues that it's the latter that will ultimately be required to crack this.

I'll read the Bloomberg article later, but that smacks a bit of trying to absolve the government. Fully onboard with the Brits being ace when it come to medicine though. Not in a jingoistic way obvs.

All workers should be entitled to fair sick pay, even those on non-permanent contracts. All employers should be subject to legal action for allowing anyone to work with symptoms. I guess that won't happen though.

Its the "self" isolation thats the the problem. Like if you were paid from HMG for self isolating after a positive test, thats easy to fix. Its the folk thinking they have symptoms before a test that then self isolate that is harder to sort out.

Employers should be telling their people not to come to work if they have symptoms. If possible to send them to work from home let them do that, otherwise pay them 2 weeks sick pay to stay away from work.

He's been critical of them in the past, so I don't think he's a fan of Johnson, but rather taking not only a longer term view of what good in this looks like, but a global view that we are generally in this together, and while lockdown measures can help domestically, it's vaccines that will help internationally.

Sound. Been wearing one today as a trial run when I popped to Sainsburys. Seems quite a few more folk are as well, which is good.

Social distance, wear a mask, and hand washing for 3 months is a small price to pay to attempt to get this thing in retreat.

What you on about Roydo it's a travesty and completely ruins my existence wearing a mask for half an hour!

Kidding.

Sounds simple when you put it like that:

Keep your distance, wear a mask and wash your hands.

You think the way some are going on they'd been asked to chop off a leg.

Media propaganda in full swing in Ireland today, knowing full well that alot of people don't read past the headline or sub heading. Here is one I found today can anyone guess the numbers of infected staff combined between Tesco Ireland, Aldi and Lidl? I'll post the answer in a few minutes Screenshot_20200722-173204.webp

Aye, it does sound simple, and I am painfully aware that my personal circumstances make it easy for me to keep well. Others, working, with kids, now jobless, perhaps dont have the luxury of circumstance that I have.

Like I was tuned into for our own personal 12 month lock down before all this popped up and joined us anyrate, others have more immediate needs than we do. So I do what I can do to not get the bug myself, and stay inside the rest of the time.

Circumstances don't, by and large, prevent you staying away from people where you can, wearing a mask and washing your hands. Attitudes do.
