Doubt this'll change. Apparently it's pretty low down on Martinez' list of priorities.
May I ask how you know this mate?
He actually said it mate.
“I always believe that a goal from open play is a more satisfying goal,” said Martinez. “The hardest thing in football is to break a team down when everyone is behind the ball. A free-kick or dead ball situation is less in your control. But you are relying more on the bounce of the ball or people switching off or doing their duties.
“Dead-ball situations are a big part of the game, don’t get me wrong. But you are a winning team when you don’t rely on set-pieces and I do prefer open play goals – I’m not going to hide it.”
Random. Cheers though.
Where's that from?

I didn't link it initially as I hate giving that rag any publicity whatsoever.
That's ok. Thanks.
Bloody weird though.
Why not score beautiful goal AND snot some headers from corners hey?
Yeah Martinez isn't a fan of goals from corners, says its just an opportunity to lose possession. I agree with him in a sense that we shouldn't be overly focused on corners but geez if you can't get 1 goal out of 10 corners there is something wrong. I'm pretty sure we've had games at 10+ corners and not a single goal which is just wasteful. Every corner, every freekick is an opportunity and we could have used some extra goals this season.
