Copa America 2019

Shootouts are just a poor way to end matches. I really can't understand why extra time has been done away with in this type of competition. The League Cup whatever but this is big enough to play the extra 30.

I watched their game the other night mate, and Argentina's problem, is simply that most of that side is utter gash.
Messi was turning up everywhere, but he knows he can't do it on his own.
Aguero when he came on didn't do anything either and that Otemendi was a liability and his new hair colour looked gash as well.

Otamendi looks bad. However, it goes back to the FA again. They hired a coach who believes in a system that Messi doesn't necessarily fit in. It sounds crazy to say, and Messi surely can fit in it surrounded by better players. But the manager is also trying to tweak and play a mixture of two ways of playing with Messi in the squad that clearly doesn't work. I feel bad for those two out of anyone on the squad.

Also I agree, Otamendi looks horrible.

I'm sure a pitch invader just won a header in the centre circle.
They won't show that again though.. it is late though.

I'm going to have to try to find that. I cant stand pitch invaders, but I find it hilarious in this instance.

Does anyone else remember the shootouts the MLS started with? Probably only "soccer" fans... they were out there lol.

3 matches go 0-0 to penalties. Small sample but I'd say the no extra time straight to pens rule is not helping the quality of the matches.

Other than UEFA, which is smart to only hold a tourney once every 4 years the quality of play in these tourneys is @#$%. The players barely care.

Also fair. AFCON had no goals in three matches today and only one team scored in the quarterfinals in the Copa. That's poor stuff.

The Copa America is normally every 4 years. It's odd years. It used to be every 2 then 3 years but that changed. In 2007 they decided to stick with 4 years

They have chopped and changed it over the years

This years was four years from the last proper one in 2015. But they decided to hold a centenary edition in 2016 a one of special.

In fact they are moving it to even years to put it in line with the UEFA Euro's so they are doing another next year to kick off the new even year and every 4 years for good no more shifting and moving years.
