So, so weird that some people were convinced a 30 year old who’d been a bog standard player his entire career and was being binned off by another bottom half club was somehow a huge improvement on what we had and was going to be not only a great centre half but also change the mentality of everyone else around him.
 
He wasn't wanted by Lage at Wolves and now it appears our fans don't want him. Not bad for an England international. For the record, I like Coady and think he is good for the club in much the same way he is in the background with England. You know what you are getting in terms of playing ability but if he wasn't at the club, we'd be in an even bigger mess IMO.

tbf... he's only 29 ;)

He was good earlier in the season but he has been awful either side of the WC. He simply doesn't engage and that completely disjoints the rest of the defence, who aren't up to much either.

We're such a poor side.

Coady wanted out of Wolves when the new manager thought he couldn't play in a back four. He needed to prove that he could as he wanted to make the national team and Gareth Southgate had publicly questioned whether he was a fit for his system. Everton gave Coady that chance, and he did well enough to make the reserves for the World Cup. Mission accomplished.

Perhaps now that he's gotten his cap and Everton are struggling, he's no longer motivated.

You have to say, if that was the case, and I don't think he's that unprofessional, who could blame him? At the start of the season everything is fresh but as time goes by, the real culture of our club starts to show. When you are managed by a tactical football zombie and you have a Board that constantly makes the wrong decisions, even the most professional of players would start to question what is going on and how it affects their career. Coady is at a point where the next move is a big one for his family. He enjoyed his time at Wolves and he fell out with Lage. My bet is that he would walk back to Wolverhampton if he was allowed to do so. Anything to get away from our crap show.

Yeah, I don’t really believe he’d give up. I’m just feeling low, but it’s a real possibility he doesn’t have the same fire.
 

He's been poor for a while now. One thing that advise me is that he never engages an attacker when they drive into the box. Jockeying is all well and good but at some point you've got to close them down.

I wouldn't be wasting money on him at all.
 
Yeah don't think we'll take up the option on him. Marginally better than Keane, but hasn't really improved us. Send him back in May, sell Keane, wave goodbye to Mina and hope that Holgate, Godfrey, Branthwaite and Tarkowski are enough for next season in the Championship.
