I don't want to use it as a Coleman dig, but he's just everything you want from a captain. Quite a throwback to tunnel cams of old when someone was loud whilst our captain shied away.
Think that's a bit unfair honestly, Coady is fantastic and vocal but literally everyone who's had any experience at Everton has said Coleman is a fantastic captain behind the scenes, Carlo said he was one of his best captains and Lampard has said he's one of the best men he's ever met, that's massively high praise from two greats of the game. In actual fact Coleman and Coady seem like the ideal Captain and Vice Captain pairing from everything we've seen.

Well that's all well and good but I want that on the pitch on before games.

An injury to Coady or Tarkowski and we will be right in the soup. We have some proper defenders now for the first time in aeons. Just as well, because any three of about 10 sides could go down this season.

Played well yesterday, although I thought Tarks was the standout centre back yesterday. Coady played well but Mitrovich was pulling on to him and really bossed him in the physical stakes, held the ball up really well and Coady couldn’t get close to him.
