Confirmed Signing Conor Coady

I don't want to rain on the back four brigade's parade, but, it looks as though, finally, signings are being made because the manager and DOF see them suiting a particular system. I'm pretty sure Lampard wants Coady, because his preferred system is three at the back and that is the system in which Coady shines.

That's not to say that I don't think Coady can play in a four, I'm sure he can and to a higher standard than Keane, nor does it mean I like the back three system, I hate it actually, but, I think that at the moment, with what he has at his disposal, Lampard thinks it is the best system in which to consolidate.

I thought we would go 352, but with McNeil signing I think we will go more a 343.

Conor Gallachers middle name is John.

That's gonna mess with your head now ...
Right genuine question and I’m not having a go but I’ve seen you mention him as a player loads of times on this forum, you’re aware his name is Gallagher not Gallacher? Again don’t mean to be petty or anything I’m genuinely curious.

Looks like this one may well happen as Wolves transition from a back three to four. Not sure why Coady would come to us given he has had a great career at Wolves and forced his way in to the England squad but I guess the chance to move back to his local area is appealing.

Also, not sure why Wolves would want to lose him. He's clearly a big influence behind the scenes and if they are changing systems, it would limit their options by getting rid, partic. if they start to struggle and need to shore it up again.

If we choose to play a back four then Keane is superior to Coady in my opinion.
In fact any of our remaining uninjured CB’s are better than Coady in a four.
Coady is a DM who has been converted to a specialist back three CB , and excels in that position and that position alone.

Lage is trying to change the structure at Wolves and doesn’t see Coady fitting in it, Wolves fans I’ve seen on socials aren’t happy with the club letting him go for cheap
