Confounding expectations

If we keep that eleven on the pitch for the rest of the season I think we have a chance of winning all our games, home and away. Jo and Saha can obviously be interchanged which wouldn't make much difference.

If one of our midfielders (Osman, Cahill, Neville, Pienaar) get injured then I think we'll struggle. Especially Neville and Cahill would give us a solid base to build on.

It was dissapointing to here Cahill might be injured, we need him big time.

Cahill has slotted into where Arteta left, not as good as Arteta but a great job none-the-less.

The real bonus has been Neville playing some wonderfully controlled, incisive passing. He's stepped up to the plate in a big way and is a contender for man of the match in pretty much all our recent games.

I thought Cahill had a quiet game today, but as soon as he went off we lost the impetus.

Love his Never never article about Liverpool. One of us. Welcome.

Neville's been top notch, his partnership with Arteta was excellent and for the first time in a long time we had a centre midfield that went toe to toe with Liverpool and competed with them. Made me proud that did, especially in the first game.

He's been acting as our playmaker at home, doing a pretty decent job. He controls everything and just lets Cahill get up and down and do his thing.

I thought Baines and Cahill has their quietest games for a while today.

Howard, although not busy, made some great catches from crosses when needed to.

Yeah they did, but then they didn't need to do much. Also Howard got injured too, which may be a blow.

Cahill didn't see alot of the ball but I thought his off the ball work was good, getting in Wigan's face and being a nuisence. He was breaking things up well in the second half.

Lets of things that went unnoticed really. Baines and Pienaar wheren't as effective as they usually are, Valencia covers his fullback well to be fair to him. They cut off the space.

Pretty much bang on mate. Thought he played the CM role well, but then I thought Neville also was unsung.

I thought Cahill and Neville where super today, so much so that Jags and Lescott hardly had a thing to do. I thought the entire midfield shone today, they all played superb.

felt Peanuts could have done more to be honest, but the other 3 were excellent. To be honest Neville has had one of his best seasons for the Blues, so much I am very grateful of his presence.

No, I thought Pienaar did ok, we didnt really attack much down the left, so thats why i think Baines and Pienaar didnt stand out as much. We mainly went thru the middle today. Which was quite refreshing.

I thought Osman played quite central at times. Hibbo joined in when he could, but we mainly played off Fellaini. He had the beating of Bramble in the air and he played the target man role well I thought. At times I thought he was a bit static, but on reflection he was doing his job right. Jo should have been the more mobile and to be fair to him he played better 2nd half.
