Interesting bit in the Echo from their Kenwright interview:

“We did discuss at the first meeting we didn’t want the standards and position David Moyes had achieved to slip: we wanted to build from that and that is the only statement we made. But he said to me ‘What do you want?’ “I told him I wanted to give him what he wanted. But ask me as a fan and I want the Champions League, of course I do. I want Europe.
I told him ‘I’ve got to find the way to give you that’ and the way can only be financial.

Then he said ‘you’ve got a fantastic Academy’ and he rolled off all the kids’ names in the Academy. He said ‘you’ve got to build those’. And then he started talking about a few footballers who are around and he said ‘can you hold onto your squad?’ I told him ‘they are all on long contracts’ one has a release clause as you know but they’re all under good contracts."

A bit of cash and an emphasis on getting home grown players in the first team. I'd settle for that.
Really like sound of that.

Don't forget the tosser who is saying these things though, He has a track record for lies. Anyone know what happenened to them two interested parties last month?

I like him, although I don't think he interviews brilliantly. When asked straightforward questions re. ambition - "So, Bobby, Champions League then yeah?" - he flips between platitudes and ambition, and you get the feeling he's being incredibly careful about what he says, making him come across as slightly insincere. That sounds like a criticism, but really I think it's natural and that he must've been having several of those "what the [Poor language removed] have I done?" moments we all have when starting a new job, especially when Bill was talking.

The big test comes when his patient, positive approach to the game is introduced to the players. Thinking about the squad we have, which doesn't consist of too many egomaniacs (at least comparatively, in terms of footballers and the planet they think they live on), they should respond quite well. I'm not sure what Graeme Jones is like as a coach, but I do think it would be useful to have a baseball bat weilding lunatic on the staff too, just in case Anichebe gives a bit of lip.

I like him quite a lot

Really hope this goes well

I just keep having flashbacks to the Wigan matches against Swansea and Arsenal though

I'll feel better when I see his Everton side play and I can get a better idea for how they'll be

I wish him all the best, I really do

Jesus. I post a bit of innocent banter 2 days ago, and my reputation has gone below zero.

Banter is innocent, guys. It's with the best of meanings.

We will lose our first 3 games, everyone will call for his head.

But then....

Bobby gets a grip, goes on an unbeaten run. We first take the League cup, then the FA cup, and end with the treble as champions.

Liverpool are relegated, Bobby is a legend.

League cup will do like, make me happy.

he's a blue now, best of luck to the man,Roberto gave me the impression that he knows he's blessed to get the job.I like that in him, here's to four years and hopefully a few more.

Just as well, have you seen how much analysis of this interview there is on the forums and in the press?

Sorry pal, but couldn't agree less. I thought he interviewed excellently, talked passionately and was incredibly sincere. The only time I saw a "chink" in his smiley face was when BK started wittering on about the love of his life.

Was really underwhelmed when I heard we'd appointed Marinez. But I feel a lot more optimistic after watching those interviews
