Reckon he should do all his interviews in Spanish tbh :p

Had a thought this morning and I would like to share it on here.

Roberto will bring a fresh, new, scientific, innovative approach to training, pre season, match preparation, squad handling etc and I am delighted with this new 2013 approach. But what about the likes of Leon Osman, Sylvain Distin, Tony Hibbert, Phil Jagielka, Steven Pienaar, Tim Howard who throughout their careers have not been used to this style? They are over 30 and it must be a lot harder for them to adapt to a new style after playing so long with a different one than it is for the likes of a 21 year old.

A youngster can change his game because nothing will be embedded into him, someone like Leon Osman who is in his 30's will find it harder changing his game after playing all his career in a different way. See where I'm coming from? It's just a thought I had. Enthusiasm will be huge for the lads who are 25 and under but for the older lads I don't think they'll be as keen because after doing a job for so long so well and along comes a change, you are gonna wonder why? Why change my style when I've had success playing the way I do? I'm 31/32 I've been playing under Moyes for 11 years and now I have to change my ways?

A whole lot easier for a youngster because they are still learning. Not so easy for a veteran.

It could give the older players a new lease of life and rejuvinate their careers.

He's not reinventing the wheel here, it's still the same game. If they are worth what they are paid, they should be able to adapt to a new manager without too much trouble.

What makes you think that?

Everton have had one of the most "scientific" approaches to training, match preparation, scouting, training etc for years. It was the secret of our success under Moyes. And yes top 6 regularly is a success.

Read the Financial Times article linked on this very page.

When i watched them train it didnt look to scientific, they did the drills you learn in your 1st coaching badge then had a match.

when they kicked off the training match they passed it back to hibbert who then hoofed it up the field.

If he stops them resorting to Moyes' hoofball that'll be a start.
A part of me will miss the days of vertical football. There was something pleasing about seeing a centre back really hitting the meat of the ball and launching it in to the stratosphere.

If in scientific you mean a recovery drink in a shaker cup after training then I see where you're coming from although I've been drinking protein shakes and any other sports nutrition supplement since 2004. Moyes had an old school philosophy was scared to move away from that. He never took risks or too many chances. He did play some nice football at times but this is gonna be a complete overhaul, the players will have to be a lot fitter, Anichebe can't be blowing out of his arse after 30 minutes, I don't think he'll fit in to Martinez's game. There'll be more runs off the ball and more to our game.

If Martinez gets anywhere near the level Everton were under Moyes he'll have done exceptionally well.

If he does it by playing "better" football he'll be a genius.
