I wasn't having a pop with Bills 'he told me he'd get us CL' comment, I just felt it was an immediate and unnecessary albatross around Martinez' neck. Anyway I'm delighted and relieved we've finally got the right man IMO to take us forward. I hope Bill sticks to his word and gives him funds and I really hope our Roberto knows how to spend it wisely. Exciting times ahead :)

Give him a chance. We've just had 11 years of Moyes who won nothing in all that time. The man is admired by many in the game, there's got to be a reason for that.

Only if fans like you keep bringing it up, its only a statement, and Martinez wants ago with this team and I like that attitude, he doesn't have to get it for me but he will delight me for trying.

Really pleased that Martinez has got the gig. The flashes of really top notch attacking football we produced in the last two years will hopefully be a lot more commonplace.....we create chances, and normally plenty of them. Get Jela firing again or get a striker in who is bang on form and we will surprise a few this coming season.
The doubters have been demanding more flair and less sitting back.....so buckle up because it's definitely going to be more offensive than previously. Martinez seemed genuinely excited and rightly so....mentioned a month or so ago that after the FA Cup win at GP Graham Jones told an STH who sits behind me and who was connected to WAFC that the performance and the result, and the way it left the crowd etc was "the final line on their CV...". If that's gospel, and I've no reason to doubt the lad then I reckon that's why they were so good that day....they knew Moyes was virtually certain to depart and that was their 'audition'.....and in the words of Simon Cowell they got four yes's"!
I think the players will be pleased too.......no more 'everyone back in our area' for corners, or holding on like piffy to a 1-0'lead at home to Norwich after 55-60 mins.

I'd like to think people would be patient too mate: let the feller find his feet this season by getting used to the place and gelling the team he inherits (including the kids who never got a break under ginger) with players he brings in. We must be prepared to see our league position dip, IMO, though not into the bottom half of the table.

Top half finish + a decent cup run (or two) + the team showing signs they are ready to kick on in season two. We have to be realistic here...which is why Billy Liar's idiot words didn't help today.
