Conceding from set pieces

That's good to hear that pal. Glad they got the contract situation sorted as well, might just be the next Ratcliffe if he gets in and takes his chance.

the contract was a bit of a nightmare to be honest but thank god it was sorted...agents eh not a fan at all....if shane gets a we run he will really come good and he is itching at the bit at the minute...good talking to you again mate i will keep you informed if anything happens...topman.

None of our players is particularly good at defending or attacking set pieces. Jagielka and Distin are both average, Heitinga doesn't really know what he's doing in the air unless it's a nice little technical defensive header. We miss Tim Cahill big time at both ends in that respect.

Hopefully by 'shortly' they mean next week at Norwich. Can't keep conceding silly arse goals against tripe.

that would be nice danefc92,but i doubt that....never know mind you....there is to many silly mistakes in the back line at the min and as another poster said no one seem to be in control.

Cheers Brian mate, appreciate the gen.

Can you ask Shane to tell Conor to reveal himself. I reckon he's an Azul multi myself.

shane is 6ft 5 joey66.....and i am like most on here when or if he gets his chance again he will be fantastic....i know moyes likes to bring the young lads through slowly but i see major problems at the back week in week out.b)

6ft -5 inches high an international & cant get a game in a defence that is leaking goals - DM has to give him a run -when he played last season he looked the part -DM dropped him just to play names - he has to think hard about this one as our centre of defence had Coleman marking their centre forward in the air for both goals what the hell is JH doing other than having a mare every game?????

We've got into a terrible habit of running back towards our own goal when a ball is swung into the box. It's very difficult to get any power or control on a header away from goal when you're running backwards and it puts the opposition at an advantage that they can go and attack the ball. Plus, because we're ending up on our own line, any sort of contact from either team can take it past Howard.

We've conceded this sort of goal in consecutive games now. It should have been sorted out on the training ground.

People are talking about how open we are but a lot of goals we concede are from set pieces. Cahill was very good defensively in this area and someone else needs to step up.

For me this makes the case for Shane Duffy to start. He can't be much worse than the other two clowns in open play and he's seriously dominant in the air at both ends of the pitch.

It has to be Jagielka who he plays with at this point but if that doesn't work then maybe we need to be looking at building a new backline, this one doesn't work.

Just watched the replay for their goal yesterday, Tim Howard really is awful a good shot stopper but overall a very average player. One of the main reasons we finished 4th in 2005 Kis because we had Nigel Martyn in goal, when we have a keeper who flaps at everything it makes it very hard.
ThatButland is out of contract isn't he? I'd defiantly take him or Mignolet (despite his mistake), Vorm or Krul.

Doesn't help that Heitinga gave Bassong a free header though.

Think against teams with big forwards like Holt we need a stronger more commanding CB (Duffy) although can't see it happening against Arsenal who like to play on the floor anyway.
Stoke away Duffy really does have to be given an opportunity tho'
Howard looks extremely short on confidence (doesn't even try to punch anymore) but we don't have anybody else we can trust :(

The average height of our backline is too low. In general, our midfielders are all midgets except Fellaini. These facts do not help.

And I do think Duffy should be given chance to play now (home games). He is 1.93m tall and we shall see if we would concede less when we defend CKs and FKs.
