Computer help!

My computer started telling me this morning i picked up a serious virus i ran my AVG and cleaned the system, even with thei the computer was still saying there was a virus, i stupidly downladed IE anti virus as recomended by my coputer now i cant get rid of it, even in remove programmes. My computer is still telling me i have serious viris, though all my virus searches and finding anything infeced!

Anyone got any ideas or advice?

Go to where you downloaded it and look for uninstall options?

If you followed an advert saying to download an anti virus, odds are it was spyware lying to you?

In future, you should never have more than one anti virus. Makes things worse if you have more than one.

It wont let me unintall the anti virus software on the site or in add delete programes, says i dont have access to it.

The computer is still saying i have aa serious virus which i doubht as the warning is a link to the to install the ant virus soft ware aaaagggghhh!

Download adaware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ and run.

Also, google the anti virus software your trying to delete, odds are, it isnt even an antivirus. Hopefully you'll find removal instructions.

The file mate is ieav.exe - its a malware virus, getting to the bottom of it pain in the flute though!

I use a mac so am rarely bothered by this virus business. I do remember something similar happening to my wife. All that had happened was that her Home Page had been interfered with. She simply reset it to the BBC and no longer got the virus/infection, pay us $30 message. It's probably not so simple, though.

When you get this problem sorted, download the Comodo firewall. It will prevent [Poor language removed] like this from ever getting to your computer.

For manual removal (which can be dangerous, but it doesn't involve downloading anybodies special software), try this:

And follow the instructions. Only do this if you feel comfortable with deleting registry entires.

so do macs not get viruses ? or is it just a case of no-one can be arsed writing them just for macs as most are using windows. i fancy one of the mega thin apple laptops, but have to admit it's so i can say i've got one of those mega thin apple laptops, feck it i'll say it anyway and save the cash.

i have in the last 5 mins got my wireless connection working after a couple of months of crouching with a cable connected, yehar i can use it everywhere, g.o.t. in the garden, bedroom(no vim i wont get the webcam out.....not on this site anyhow) and even in the lav/bog/shitter/dunny/littleboysroom.

They can get them, but most people can't be arsed writing a virus which only hampers a tiny amount of computer users. I'm not sure whether the newer macs, which can now run Windows on their operating systems, will now be more in danger. I've got the older ibook, which is feckin' brilliant and never gives me problems.

Thanks lads, my cousin whos a computer programme reset my computer to the stage it was at a couple of days ago and everything seems fine now!

Pain in the arse the whole day gone trying to get rid of it luckily thats the night free!

Install Comodo firewall. I can't recommend it enough. In fact for the amount of recommendations I do for them, I should be getting kick backs or summit.

By the way, it is FREE!!!
