Computer games.

Don't know if anyone here has heard of Astroneer, but it's a space survival game in alpha currently. It's brilliant.

It's been recieving regular updates over the course of the year that it has been out, with two relatively major ones in recent weeks.

You basically terraform the planets around you for materials etc and build a space base, solo or with friends with some interesting mechanics in keeping power flow to modules ongoing.

The game is by no means finished and has a few performance issues/bugs but it's still hella fun.

The development roadmap for the rest of the year is particularly promising, aiming for dedicated servers and all sorts. I love it!
I have heard of it, I have it!! It is good fun for a bit...... It is still fairly limited and I got bored quickly but there is some decent potential in it. Hopefully the developers capitalize on that potential. Certainly worth the $15-ish I paid a year ago.

There is much more going on now one year in, the whole basebuilding got a recent upgrade - as well as a new research/unlock system.

Just last night they added new vehicles, storage units and items.

The dev roadmap for the future looks great you should have a gander at what they're planning for the year!

I still install the updates, but admit I haven't played it since around Xmas. Will have to have a look see at the new gubbin's they have added.

You guys know Tropico?

Recently found out two things - that the studio that made the games (as well as Tzar, Victor Vran and a few others) are Bulgarian! And also - that my 1st cousin's husband is the guy who did the art and writing for the Tropico series, as well as for their new Surviving Mars title, released by Paradox Interactive (!). The game itself is pretty close in gameplay/style to RimWorld, so if you've played that - check out Surviving Mars, as it was released a few days ago.

Haha no way! Those Tropico games look pretty fun! Think I've got 3 (or 4 maybe), but hardly played it! :o

Even if it’s only as good as the original game you’ll enjoy it. It’s a tiny bit like GTA/Read Dead meets zombies as you get your own base which you can add to and build a community of playable characters, loot anything you can get your hands on and drive loads of vehicles. One of the best things about the original was that once one of your characters died they were gone for good, so it forces you to think more tactically and carefully rather than just go in Rambo style. I might play it tonight actually.

Gears of War was probably the last great co op game I played. What a game that was.
I dusted off the Xbox 360 today and have been playing State of Decay today. It’s glitchy as hell but I forgot just how good it is. Poor old Gabrielle unfortunately died in action protecting the people he loved. RIP soldier taken too soon xxx

My lad wants this.
How bad is it ?

Only out today ?
It's beautiful and fun for a couple of hours with friends, but their is essentially 3-4 quests to do and you just repeat them over and over.

Buy a quest, sail to island, dig up chest, sell chest for gold. Repeat.

Exploring sounds fun until you realise the entire world is empty.. there is no loot etc. Nothing to aim for at all really. Just lifeless islands.

You can't even create a character, they use an infinite generator and so you have to just keep generating til you find one you like and want to stick with.

Oh and for a game where you spend 90% in boats, there is only 2 boats in the entire game. And you don't even upgrade them etc.

So.. gathered up a bunch of people to play the 8 man squad event in PUBG today. Only to find out you can't queue with more than 4 people in the squad. Those developers never cease to amaze me. What a joke.

5 is in a humble bundle right now, you can get the full game and a DLC for ~$5 (and a bunch of other games......)

Finally playing pubg, although it is only the mobile game. Drains the battery so quickly but I'm enjoying it so far. Just been playing solo as don't know anyone who plays it.
