Computer games.

It's what the Wii U should've been really. It was quite disappointing to see current Wii U games being played on it.

The WiiU had great potential, its just after sales were slow and no 3rd parties jumped on board so it flopped. The 2nd screen could have been used as a different viewpoint in FPS or 3rd person shooters, maps in RPGs etc. However with a few exceptions (Xenoblade Chronicles X, Mario Maker) no one utilized it (2nd screen will make the next Zelda better in the WiiU if they decide to not just make a switch clone).

Its interesting tech and cool they are still going a different route but I'm uncertain it works as a console or portable devise. The 3DS appeal to developers is that games are cheap to develop for (I bet you'll see a new 3DS in a year or so). This won't be (I think developement costs is what also killed the Vita). Also yea it plays Skyrim, but Skyrim is a 4 year old game.

Steamspy showing 5.4 million sales on Steam, and then however many directly through Rockstar. (Interestingly, 1.5 mill active player on steam in the last two weeks, higher than I would have thought!)

It is that, what they will be targeting with RDR2. Get the 45 million console sales, then a year down the line, another 5 million PC sales.
That is quite brilliant, Can't really blame them but I am really gutted...I won't be buying another console (even for that game) I just can't go back to 30 fps....looks horrible on my tv. Looks like a loooong wait then.

the switch looks like it is a good idea, and potentially the hybrid of the DS / Wii and Wii U all rolled into one.

Think it is important that the console can match the xbox/ps4 and provide similar level of game support to be a success. If they get it right, then playing premium games on the go is a game changer, imagine playing uncharted or fallout or fifa on your commute to work rather than candy crush and clash of clans?

If they get it wrong it could well be the end for nintendo console wise, can't see how they could come back from another failed console.

Think nintendo probably should have just matched or tried to exceed existing consoles and offered a games device that provided all the power and quality that the others don't, try and blow them out the water and make the nintendo brand dominant in the market ala the snes.

as ijjy as shown that sorta already exists, the change here is the bigger screen..previously portable games were always hand held , the tablet has changed all that

Then you're mental. Or 12.
Personally think it is more fun. and better games to play, i'd argue there is a lot better DS games in terms of portable gaming than PS vista, only the one couple on vista are worth playing.

compared to the long list on DS, Pheonix wright/elite beat agents/adanced wars/animal crossing/the ds zelda games / mario to name a few. There are loads of Ds games that are far better than vista equivalents.

and that is not even including pokemon!

The vista is a bit crap though to be fair, but still kinda what i meant.

Plus they stopped properly supporting the vista years ago mate.

I'd take a DS over a vista any day of the week.

He is doing this on purpose isn't he, right?

I've got Zelda, all the Mario's, and just about every other Nintendo, Sega game you could ever mention on my Vita.

And can stream my PS4 to it.
