Computer games.

Does one simply buy a gaming PC? if so, what price range is not going to be garbage?

I see games saying you need this and that to run, but it's all letters and numbers to me, I'm assuming an i7 processor is a given?

Don't worry as much about the processor as about the RAM and the video card.

It really depends on your price range, because right now, if you can afford it, the GTX1070 or especially the GTX1080 are no-brainers, as they're so much better than anything else on the market for the price they're at - but they're still not exactly cheap.

This would future proof you quite well - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/tita...ntel-core-i7-6700-gtx-1080-8gb-fs-18a-og.html

You mentioned F12016 - with that in mind, you'd have to be looking at at least £1,000.

Anyone play mount and blade on PC? Had it years ago and thrilled they're releasing warband for ps4 in a few weeks. Bannerlord looks amazing as well. Don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to PC games but downloaded a 'project reality' mod for battlefield today. Basically they take it very seriously. Cooler than it sounds, how the game should be played. Here's some Bannerlord game play (no release date yet).

Ha, fantastic, love the games.

However, having played Warband the other week with my flatmate - it really hasn't aged well to be honest. For a 2010 game it's like you're playing the first one graphics/AI wise, but the multiplayer is great fun.

Cheers Dylan!
Right, IMO, Elite is awesome.

However, to address your concerns, you can play in open (world populated with other human players), private group (invitation only) or solo (you and the NPC's).

So if you go solo, the only thing you have to worry about is NPC's attacking you. That being said, in open, if you venture out of your starting system then player encounters can be rare. They can also vary, but mostly your encounters as a new player will involve a player helping you out (either by winging up with you and giving tips, or by throwing out a couple of tons of palladium that you can sell for a huge amount of money for an early game player). You will occasionally come across a griefer who will open fire as soon as they interdict you, but that is a risk you run with any MMO.

If you like space games, it is perfect. The game has a full Newtonian flight model (which you can fully utilize by switching off the computer flight assist, giving you 100% control of your ship.....ie if you thrust up for a second and remove power to the thruster, you will continue to move until a counter force is applied by thrusting down), though in space they do impose ship speed limits, otherwise you can just constantly accelerate which reduces combat into basically high speed jousting.

I play PC, so wouldn't be able to help out ingame, but it is certainly worth hitting up the Elite: Dangerous sub reddit, along with the Elite Wings & Elite xbone subs.

Any other questions specifically about the game, I can certainly help out.

Bought this on PC last night, going to have a go tonight. My only concern is that apparently its really difficult to get into and there is not much onscreen help to guide you at the beginning, will definitely check out the Reddit links you said, thanks.

Oh, definitely the game does almost nothing to help you.

Although half the fun is figuring it all out.

As you are playing on PC, do you have a joystick? I use the exceedingly cheap Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X, which is pretty much the cheapest HOTAS you can get, but honestly it makes the world of difference over playing with mouse & keyboard or a gamepad.

Yes on PC, well my laptop which surprisingly runs most things really well. I use a gamepad but might have a look at that what you said, looks like 32 quid on amazon. Only problem is i only play stuff while sat on the settee whilst the missus watches crap on telly so it might be hard to use a joystick!!
