Computer games.

I don't understand the appeal of this pokemon malarky, in-fact i don't even know what pokemon is... i have vague memories from many years ago of it being some lame japaense kids cartoon and thats about it.

So what do you actually do in the game ? capture animated cartoons from other users ? then what do you do with them ? where is the appeal and crack factor unless you're a 12 year old kid or have a strange fondness for weird japanese anime ?

I DUN GET IT. Im guessing it's a generation thing because no one i know (early-mid 30s) seems to give a [Poor language removed] or know what it is and yet reading the internet it seems everyones going mental for it.

Been playing Pokemon black 2 on my phone this week. Not far into it but enjoying myself none the less. My issue at the minute is i'm catching pokemon but i already know they are crap. Packrat, purleon (a cat) clearly aren't going to be much use to me so there is no point in even bothering with them.

Got a psyduck though which i was made up with. levelling that up gradually. I wonder if i will end up just having a team full of original ones and binning the other 300 odd off ? lol

it was a game before a cartoon in fairness

a really fun game

It only has the original pokemon in it, so lots of original era fans are loving it. Give it a go, if only for the nostalgia. ;)
How can finding a charmander in your garden not be boss ?

Very impressed with it so far although my mobile data will get a hammering.

To be fair the data usage isn't too bad, it's the battery drain that takes the piss. It's mental how you need to have it running and open for it to do anything, e.g. track your steps for hatching eggs.

You spent any money on it yet mate ?

Got GTA5 for my PS4. Tried to play it, needs a 10GB update.

Why the fck do I bother
haha i remember the excitement getting the Ps4 last year. Didn't plan to get one and then had to go all the way to bromborough to get it from currys there as they had none in town. Get it home, have chippy tea set it up on the upstairs tv, plan to play a game to see what it was like and.......updates, hours of updates. even the initial update took forever, don't think i actually did get round to playing a game that night.

(btw i never get new consoles, normally few years or more down the line, hence excitement)

1) Nostalgia. It only has the original generation of pokemon in it, so all the people who grew up with the craze as a kid will get immense nostalgia, even if they haven't played anything pokemon in a decade. The animations and sound are spot on too, which helps.
2) It makes doing mundane things more fun. Suddenly walking to the post office is a bit more entertaining as you can progress things in the game, and get items from various stops like said post office.
3) The social aspect. You can join teams and try and takeover certain areas by teaming up or going against people in other teams. And there are items that attract players to the same points. There are loads of stories of people, for example those with social anxiety, actually getting out and about a bit more and making friends whilst playing the game.
4) It's also free, and in a great way too, so it has absolutely no ads and the in game items you can buy are completely avoidable and simply let you save a small amount of time.

Heard loads of people moaning about it but at the end of the day most people spend hours a week tapping away on their phones anyway. May as well get them out and about, seeing local points of interest, exercising and actually talking to other people.

I spent about £1.50 I had from that free Google surveys thing (opinion rewards I think it's called), but not going to spend any actual money as there is 0 need. Which I like. They'll still make a fortune as it's so popular and even if only 1% of players pay anything, they'll rake it in.
