Computer games.

Hating competitive. It's ruined by quitters and some unfair mechanics.

Great game though. Winston is my main man at the moment.
My friend said the same thing about it like 10 min ago, cuz he's grinding that game out at the mo'. He says he's enjoying it, but all the cyka blyad and quitting is doing his head in...

It utterly ruins it as the ranking system is poo. The weight winning or losing carries is far too high when ultimately you're 1/12th of a game's players. I've had games where I've been rubbish and won and games where I've been bossing it and lost.

Then quitting just isn't handled correctly. Win against a team with a quitter, even if they quit once you'd pretty much already won? Have a massive reduction on your rank increase. Lose because someone on your team quit early on? Enjoy your rank going down. Hell, even winning 5 v 6 has a reduction which is madness. Throw in the ridiculous coin flip mechanic and you're in for a frustrating time.

Aye it's deffo frustrating. They also need to be able to differentiate between lagging out and leaving, have seen it happen on several occasions.
Eagerly waiting a fix and change to the system.
Also waiting for that Tobjorn nerf to come, desperately what the game needs on console. super OP and incredibly frustrating when a team decides to play scummy and turret spam with Reinharts and Bastions.

Torbjorn is being nerfed this month thankfully. People stacking him ruins about a third of console games. Though they're only reducing turret damage when really they should fix his turret's ridiculous 360° vision, crazy range and 100% accuracy. It's absolutely infuriating.

And yeah, if you quit and rejoin it will count as a loss regardless which is dumb. Rage quitters won't rejoin so that's only punishing those who don't mean to quit, who actually try to get back into the same game.

The auto aim on those turrets is actually ridiculous.
While I did play a bit of him when I started playing the game, I've totally swerved him since as he just ruins any game as far as I'm concerned.
There's no skill in setting up a turret and running away.
Would also be a fan if they made Hanzo ults e.t.c. destroy turrets as well.
At the moment I'm trying to master Mei, I'm a competent Soldier 76, Reaper e.t.c and a pretty good Mercy, reasonable at Winston, Bastion and Reinhart. Have swerved most of the others though, never been able to snipe on console and struggled a bit to master Pharah.
Winston and Mercy are probably the characters I have the most fun playing, they're both a bit of a laugh

Ok while there's overwatch talk, do I need to be mic'd to play this? Most of my gaming is late night weekends and I'm right next to the boys' room so chat is out of the question.
not in my experience.
I play in parties where having a mic is useful, but not essential.
in solo play it's entirely unnecessary.

I think one of the reasons I'm only average at the game is that I made a point to play every character. I've got at least an hour with everyone and no more than 4 with any individual. Might be time to start specialising as it's impossible to master 21 characters.

That said, I'm quite good as Lucio, Pharah and Reaper. Also a decent Winston, Rein and Symmetra. The trick with Pharah in my opinion is knowing when to use her. I almost exclusively use her as a backup option when we're stuck and the enemy is clustered. Raining down rockets really helps get rid of turrets, disperse the enemy team and generally cause panic.

I think one of the strengths of Overwatch is that it allows people to change their characters to fit the situation.
I hadn't played Reaper for the best part of a few weeks as I took a break from overwatch and didn't really like the character, but we were faced with an annoying Winston on the tiny capture point on the Ilios map when playing competitive yesterday.
Figured we needed a counter and so went Reaper and got a 20 kill streak without dying, won us the game with a couple of key timed supers to change the momentum when they made a big push.
I think specialising is important, but personally I want to master maybe two/three more characters first just to be able to provide more diversity in what I can play so I offer more options to the team.

Anyone here played/playing Warframe? Very enjoyable and free to play game, with fantastic mechanics and no necessary pay to win (I mean, you could pump money in and buy things quickly, but the only ways to get the top and best items is to farm their parts/blueprints and craft them).
