I've had similar trouble, I'm on probably my 5th Xbox since 2007, either RROD or error messages killing them, thankfully they were all replaced without cost, though. I've still got an old style Xbox, I don't know how long it'll last for but it must be on borrowed time now.

Nope not really.

Sorted it now though, took an old external drive and ripped it apart then installed the necessary Xbox software onto it through my PC and stuck it in the caddy the 360 drive was in. Works fine.

Still a pain in the arse, have to install GTA V again now ffs

Played it for a couple of hours the other day, it's basically just a graphical overhaul of previous versions from first impressions gameplay wise. The main thing I noticed is that it's solid to attack another city in the early part and you have independent city states as well as other empires to contend with. I've been doing a presentation on neoliberal economic orthodoxy the last few days so will give it another go at the weekend like.

Could hardly be more wrong. For a start it is now working with hexagonal tiles and 1upt, which makes a big difference to how the combat works. There are also a lot of changes in the other mechanics of the game, like Civics, Religion, Espionage, Tech trading, Polution is gone. City states as mentioned have been added. Also it looks 1 million times prettier! (y)
 
Like I said I only had a quick go mate but that was my initial impression. I probably just got angry because I tried for about half an hour to figure out how to combine troops/form an army to no avail and ended up getting most of my archers smashed when I tried to take over one of the city states.
